| Same league fee break down as 2009 with one exception. Score keepers got an increase from $8.50 a game to $10.00. You may notice the 2009 break down under 2009 league handouts is for 20 games, that was 18 games + single elimination tournament. The number of games this year is the same as last year, 18 games + single elimination tournament. $575 last year $600 this year.

| Along with what Gary said, we are no longer under the umbrella of the Marion Recreation Department. We are in the process of being a Not For Profit Organization and there are certain expenses that will go along with that.
Also, we'll be mailing out all the checks this year, sending tax forms, accountant for taxes, etc...
It came out to about $585, so we just rounded to $600. Fee breakdown should be available at the league meeting.

| Just a few questions. I am trying to get a team organized this year for co-ed. I played a few years ago for MEC then we lost our team and I am trying to get it going again. I am curious on how to acquire balls and bats and I also do not know the legality of each. What can we use and where can I get them is my questions. I have no supplies so I will be starting fresh. If someone could help me out I would appreciate it. If someone knows somewhere cheap let me know. Thanks

| you've got quite a bit of things to look into. the marion leagues are run under ASA rulings.
balls - like a previous posted said, ASA only allows optics for the balls (that'd be yellow - i never understood why people used white still - no one uses white softballs up north). balls have a COR and compression rating on all of them. ASA balls have a COR rating of .40/.44/.47 and a compression rating of 375/300 (for example, you'll see 44/375 when people talk about balls).
bats - this one is loaded topic. the main thing is, find a bat that says ASA 2004 on it (there's a 2000 mark as well, but look for the 2004 to be safe) you don't see that on there, you can't use it. there's talk about using bats that have been "grandfathered in," don't listen to them, just play it safe.
this link brings you to a one-page PDF of bats you can't use even though they have one of the ASA marks on them: http://www.asasoftball.com/about/build_batlist_one_page.asp
this link brings you to the ASA certification page. there's a drop down menu there where you can see what bats and balls are approved and what the ASA stamps look like for the bats and balls http://www.asasoftball.com/about/certified_equipment.asp
where to get them? garage sales, you might find a bat or two, but don't expect finding a diamond - you'll probably just find old aluminum eastons. sports resale shops - like Play It Again Sports - though i don't believe there is one down here. best bet - go to dicks and pick one up - but don't spend over $100 for one - unless you want to.

| Good advice Adam.
Cody, your best bet for bats are through ebay. You want to contact the seller first and make sure they are a certified seller (they give you a legit receipt that you can use to return the bat if it breaks within the first year) and that it's an ASA bat. If you want, ask about the bat on here before you buy it.

| I used to play co-ed softball for about 8 years.. haven't played in quite awhile but I'm looking to find a team I can be on this year and I'm not sure on how to go about doing that. So if anyone can give me some pointers that would be great.. or if you just need a female ex-grade school/high school/co-ed league softball player let me know..
