NEFL Southside had games on Sunday. Results are as follows:

Bears over Chargers 9-0

In another classic matchup between the Super teams from last season, the Bears made a few more plays than the Chargers to get the win.

Lions and Saints play to a 7-7 Tie

This game had so many big stops and key fumbles and blocked FG’s that it could have played 5 OT and still no one was going to win. Late in the 4th QTR, the Lions was all set to pull out a last minute FG only to have it blocked! Game goes to overtime. Both teams struggle to move the ball and nor it gets down to the last 2 minutes and again the Lions have the ball. R.Peete tosses a short pass and they move into scoring range inside the 35yd line of the Saints. What the lions do next is crazy… They try to pass on 3 straight plays…incomplete, incomplete, SACK for a loss back to the 46yd line and OUT of FG range so they have to punt the ball. The return starts from the 10 and he brings it back all the way to the Lions 32yd line with 1:47 to play. Two runs into the line and on 3rd down, The Saints decide to kick the FG. The snap is good, but the rush is better and the kick is blocked from up the gut! Lions take over. 3 straight in completions brings us to 4th down. Lions go for it and gets sacked with 22 seconds left on the clock! Saints ball at the Lions 25 with 22 seconds to go in Overtime. Saints gamble, D.Brees rolls out to the left and tries to throw back across the field to wide open M.Colston but the pass is intercepted by a DT (the only guy free no less) and he rumbles down to the Saints 41yd line with 3 seconds to go! Lions go for the FG, snap is good, the protection is better but the kick is wide left and the game ends in a tie.

Titans rock the Saints 21-0

Titans QB V.Young threw for over 300 yds and 3 TD’s in the rout of the Saints. Titans scored on their first 3 possessions and the defense kept the Saints out of the endzone and barely across the midfield stripe
