We decided at practice today to make April 11 a work day instead of practicing. So we will get a bunch of projects done, grill out, and maybe have a beer or two. Lets get a concrete list of what we want to get done on here first, then we can start figuring out what equipment we need and who will bring it. So far what we've thought of is:

1) Straighten the visitors dugout
2) Add shelving to the backs of both dugouts
3) Strip the paint from all buildings/dugouts
4) Paint everything
5) Fix the back-stop fence
6) Secure the netting in front of the bleachers
7) Repaint foul poles and put up new distance signs
8) Trimming trees in the outfield that hang over the field

Are there any other projects that anyone can think of that we need/want to do?

I'll be in charge of making sure the beer stays cold.

You know, I've found in the past that the only way to make sure the beer is still cold is to periodically sample it. We'd better bring a little extra to account for that.

Sounds to me like you all are going to need a few ladies around to make sure ANYTHING gets done...or maybe the wives just need to make the list...you all do the lists your wives give you, right?

So two things. First of all you all know I have a spare box un my trunk at all times so..I will gladly share on the 11th. Secondly, since I see very little live pitching, and by very little I mean none, I would greatly appreciate it if I could get in a quick round of batting practice either before or after the work. Please. :p

If nothing else we'll take a minute to get you some BP in the cage. Speaking of the cage, that needs to be added to the list, we need to replace a board or two on the cage right?

Well Mikey, if you weren't bringing a box I'd have to think about it for a while. But yeah, we'll get you some swings. Plus, we can't expect you to step right in and start getting hit without working on it.

And yes, the cage needs some work as well.

Okay, so it seems like we have a consensus on what needs to be done, now to handle the logistics. Stop me if you guys have already talked about this at practice and I just didn’t hear about it.

To avoid confusion I say we have individual people volunteer to be in charge of organizing each task. For example, if Frank is in charge of fixing the backstop, he figures out all of the equipment we need and calls people or sets up a separate thread on the forum to arrange who can bring that equipment.

If everyone prefers we can just put together a master list of needed supplies and post it on here and have each person say what they can bring.

Also, I think we open this work day up to whoever can come, significant others, children, parents, team supporters, does anyone have any opposition to that?

1) We can not stop you from typing or talking regardless if we have talked about it before or not.
2) We did not discuss much about the work day.

3) I am open to people coming if they want to

4) I am ADHD and forgot the rest of your post

5) Oh yeah, I think it should be a master list as opposed to individuals taking on each task. I have no equipment or idea what we need to do each job... if others want to take on tasks and organizing that, great, but I am not much of a construction organizer type of guy. I know you were just using me as an example, but I for one would be clueless on where to start.

I have a cooler, Moose has beer.

We're good!

Seriously though, start a list on here of what we need as far as equipment and have people post on here that they will be bringing it. That's a start.

I would like to reassert the fact that Frank is not much of a construction guy. If you tell him how to hold the nail and swing the hammer, he can usually figure it out, though.

Jay was thinking we should start around 10:00 or 11:00 on Sunday morning to give us time to get as much done as possible.

I might not be able to make it that early, but I'll be there as soon as I can.

What time works for everyone else?

Just in case you didn't see it in the above thread, this is what I said:

In general I think we have almost everything covered from what people have already posted with at least 1 person bringing it. If you have hammers, screwguns, paint scrapers, paint brushes, and ladders that aren't hard to grab and throw in your vehicle everyone should bring those things, hard to have too many.

As for timing 10-11 start sounds good to me, haven't talked to dad yet about when he can get down there, but we can get a lot done before we need the skidsteer.

One thing I think would be nice to have that I don't think anyone has mentioned yet is an extendable branch trimmer to reach the high branches in left center, so if anyone has one of those that'd be great.

I was just down at the field measuring for the number of boards needed and areas of roofs to be shingled. Our home dugout roof is OK, the visitor dugout roof is 8'x 24' and the equipment building is 9'x11' both of those need shingles. We'll probably have to make a run to Menards Sunday after we determine what materials we came up short on. So bodies are the most important thing that we need.
