Remax stole one from all of you. The young fat guy in the jean, he was wearing white. He is a outstanding ball player. He is the winner of this year’s Juno award for best acting.

Geoff Whyte (Bistro) will be the 2010 Rookie of the Year. You heard it here the day before the season starts...

I don't know what KD is referring to but let me add my 2 cents on the weekend.
1) The league has a whole just got 20+ solid players, probably the strongest draft I've seen.
2) Village Grocer (who I thought was the best team last year) is now too good.
3) MAS looked like they did the best at the draft - they are going to be tough to beat this year.

I continue to believe that the entire league should redraft every year, its the only way we get around the politics and bullsh*t of the draft and the playoffs. There were at least 10 guys batting from the wrong side of the plate at the tryouts, I guess that is what everybody wants this league to be. Our number 1 pick, nobody can point at us and say he was dogging it as he hit 3 homers Sunday.
I think it is wrong that Village was able to get Chilton (probaly one of the best athlestes in Markham), village is now the team to beat and hopefully we will beat them like we did last year (through the connies - waiting for a response from Burton!!). I understand wanting to play with friends but for a guy like Chilton to intentionally go 20th overall - what is the point of the draft order - we are just making the best teams better.
I joined up to this league because it was a fun, competetitive recreational league, its turned into a 100% competetive league which I don't think is the right direction but I'm only 1 vote of 200.
An idea to solve the problem is each team keeps 5 players (so everyone who wants to play with their freinds can stick together) and the rest of the team is redrafted. Everyone is given a number with respect to your ability and we try to get all the teams to sum up to the same number. I know it is subjective but it works in the hockey leagues and will probably work here. Maybe people won't be so bitchy at each other if we all had to play on each others teams, there will be no tryout politics and maybe everyone will be able to play in the playoffs.

Only my 2 cents, not worth more than 1 vote.

Connie teams should not be allowed to play their way in to the CHAMPIONS side....but I'm just "1 vote out of 200"

forgot to mention...Thanks for calling us the best team who just got too good, but as someone else pointed out we were a 500 team last year that didn't even make it to the semi's. How does that make us the best? We do appreciate all the kinds words though.

Who is this Chilton character? More importantly why are you praising him as if he is Joe Mauer or Ichiro? There are quite of few solid ball players in this great league. I will have to see for myself and evaluate this cat to see if he is as good as you say.

While I recognize that no one way, method, or process is without its flaws, in my humble opinion
the draft should be adjusted to the following format

Round 1 - Team 18 picks first, through to Team 1
Round 2 - Team 18 picks first, through to Team 1
Round 3 and onwards, Team 18 picks first to team 1, but then it goes back 1 through 18 and so forth like a standard draft.

This gives the weaker teams still better picks, but makes it a true draft.

The system currently does the following

It makes the weak teams (who lose players) very good quickly, but it also unconventionally hurts the good teams (who lose players) as well.

No team should have 6 or more draft picks before one team has picked one.

That's my 2 cents...

I agree with no tools in that I think the league should consider changing the rules for the draft order.

My suggestion would be to allow the bottom 8 teams to make two picks before any of the playoff teams can pick. Then, once every team has had at least one pick, allow the bottom eight teams to complete their rosters.

So the draft would look like this:

Round 1: 1 to 8
Round 2: 1 to 18
Round 3 and on until bottom 8 have completed rosters: 1 to 8
All subsequent rounds: 9 to 18 until all teams are completed.

This at least allows every team a top 20 pick (assuming all teams do not draft 2 players). It was a bit much to have Crupi and Tar (Harding) picking 8 of the final 10.

The argument that the current system is in place to allow for parity is a bit exaggerated - this league is very balanced and any team is capable of winning a game on a given day. Look at plumbers last year, advanced to semi finals from the cony side. And Wing it went to the finals after finishing 10th (with a sub 500 record)

Chilton was ex member of Village Grocer who had to leave the league for work reasons, and upon returning was not allowed to rejoin his old team automatically through the sabbatical rule. Hence the team reps were petitioned and they agreed to let him go undrafted until he able to be picked by his old team, one that he never wanted to leave in the first place.

I don't know anything about this Chilton guy, but if we are talking about the best athlete in the league... I saw the CF from the Arms climb 3/4 of the way up the wall and make a catch last night.

Okay...maybe it is just me but....While everyone is just so impressed by the fact that Grocer and Arms won a few games, have you looked at the results after week one? Dave Houghton team is undefeated. Who does Chilton think he is...Manny Ramirez? If I was the guy drafting before Grocer I would have drafted him and I would sit his Hollywood playboy but on the bench where he could play. What a bunch of "SHOWBOATS" the Arms have become. It is a truly sad day when down and dirty ball players true dirt dog turns into just glamour boys. My heart is heavy today my friends, but enough of that for now, more to come next week!

wait one min here ladies. Chiltz is not the type of guy that chirps how he is gods gift to baseball. He is infact the opposite. He is the type of player that brings value to any team because of his attitude. And truth be known, he is no stranger to the ball diamond...but he wont tell you it.
So....D ChewChew, I have the phone numbers to a couple of coaches that run elite squads in Durham that need a pine rider who can add a bit of pop to the 8 or 9 spot.
Personally, if I were you,I wouldnt make that phone call with the TRAIN of thought that you will see a lot of play time, however it may be a little closer to your pace instead then hitting bombs into the night over a 250 foot porch.

Can you switch hit?

Plumbing is not easy work. To become a plumber it takes self motivation and a certain grit that is not involved in the normal USPL sector. Make no mistake, this is a hands on job and your mind will get dirty. You get to throw games to get to the connie (see 2009). As you move from an apprentice to a journeyman, the hat throwing and deceitfulness increases. One’s clout in the league moves in proportion to their experience. You learn to sit the useless players during the playoffs. During the first years of joining the league, you should have gradually increased your cheating IQ like dropping balls purposely to turn double plays. The first few months you were probably given a short leash and scrutinized constantly. As time progressed, you probably built up a little trust with your master swindler. As a result, you had a little more free will. By the end of this year, you should be able to play independently, without reckless abandon for honesty, but rather with a sound strategy and stable consistency of lies. In other words, what needs to be done on the field to win a game should be rather routine.

Good post pound 4 pound, I thought it was worth a try but obviously the level of play is quite substantial. As for the teams that have or will not win a game this year, hang in there for the realignment to the Masters. I assume the Bistro, the former champs and Griffith will get moved to the masters’ division r by June.
