Only 3 more weekends left coaches. Here is what went down this past weekend.

Saturday games:

Packers 33 Cowboys 25

The Packers and coach Andrew Stewart got the game into the 20's & 30's where they like to be. The Cowboys are usually a defensive minded team but decided to play at the Packers pace. Knowing Coach Al Harvey, he took something from this game just in case these two meet again in the playoffs. For the Pack, they moved closer to clinching the North division and locking up a bye for the 1st rd. The Boys on the other hand just made the game vs the Eagles that much bigger!

Ravens 28 Steelers 0

Coaches Glenn Phoenix and Ernie Grice have been playing since their childhood, making this the longest running rivalry in the NEFL. Dating back to before the league was even conceived. They have had their share of great battles, and close games, this was not one of them. Steelers QB #10 Stewart could not hit the side of a barn let alone a wide open receiver. The Ravens were their normal consistant selves. Solid on all fronts, offense, defense & Sp. teams. The loss all but drops the Steelers out of playoff talk. The Ravens are in the hunt to wrestle the North division from the Bengals.

Sunday games:

Chiefs 27 Raiders 21 OT

Two of the league's more experienced coaches and overall good fellas wrapped up their season series. If it wasn't for the board coming on, you would have never known a game was being played. These are the kind of games that make grown men play what is a kids game. Harold King pulled out the broom on William Travers and his Raiders this season. We hope that coach Travers will return next year at the helm of the Raydas!!!!!

Titans 14 Broncos 6 / Titans 10 Panthers 7

Coach Lomax played basically played his own teams in back-to-back games. 1st up was Jack Thomas and the Broncos who Lomax painted up and based up for this NEFL rookie coach. Well I guess that's why they say don't sleep with the enemy....Titans stayed in control and were never threatened by a struggling Denver offense.

Next up was Lomax's old Panther team from his BEFL days now being coached up by Ed Roche. This was no walk in the park as the Panthers scratched and clawed themselves to a 7-7 score late in the game. The Titans called on the leg of their kicker to save the day, but it was the defense that had to keep the Panthers out of scoring range to preserve the victory. The Titans have solid grip on the #1 seed, they are 12-0 and going strong!

Falcons 28 Saints 0

Brian Healey had the passing offense firing on all cylinders. He completed 6 of 6 passes for 4tds as the Saints defense could not make the tackle in the open field. The Saints rely on a strong run game but got behind quickly so they had to abandon the run, and that led to a quick death in the ATL. NEFL rookie coach Steve Brown is learning the hard way that you need great safety play in this league. The Falcons are the odd on favorite to win the South division, which may turn out to be the last playoff spot open. They have a few more tough opponents left on their schedule, so we will see how it turns out

Lions 6 Redskins 0

The Lions are trying to stay in striking distance of the division leading Falcons. They took a giant step towards that task by defeating a very game Redskin squad. Dearell Brevard almost looked past coach Cliff Gibbs and the Skins, but great defense is what wins championships, and that's what the Lions showed in this game. The offense struggled at times, mostly due to an attacking defense by the Redskins. A short TD run by #20 Sanders was the only score.

Giants 35 Bills 17

Joe Greco showed flashes of that playoff pedigree vs the Bills, too bad it's too little, too late at this point of the season. The G-men have just one more game remaining on the schedule and then it will time to restock the talent pool. Kern Robinson and his Bills started the season 3-0 but seemed to hit the wall after that.

This game was an appetizer to the big Greco vs Robinson match up in Deuce Bowl II, as the sons of these two coaches were getting ready to do battle as well.

Bengals 14 Cardinals 0

Coach Norris McCraw and his Bengals are having another stellar season while being lead by one of the leagues best defenses. They totally shutdown the Cards who have shown some difficulty scoring of late. Coach Karim Campbell will have to go back to the drawing board as his red birds fall under the .500 mark. The Bengals have huge games coming up vs the league's top 2 scoring defense...the Titans and 49ers! They will need a split at best to hold onto the division lead over the Ravens.

49ers 28 Lions 19

The Lions jumped out to a 13-0 lead in SF, and all that did was wake a sleeping Lion. Coach Corey Johnson and his 49ers scored 28 unanswered pts to thru the next 3qtrs to put this game out of reach. A huge INT by #37 shutdown a Lions drive in the 2nd half. By the time the Lions scored again with 30secs left in the game, the stadium was all but cleared. The 49ers raised their record to 11-0 and seem to have the #1 seed locked up in the NFC.

Vikings 20 Buccaneers 14 OT

Ed Scott vs Greg King has a special ring to it in the annuls of NEFL lore. Coach Scott has no salary cap. He is well known in the world of EF. He spends on the best bases and figures you can get. He brings 3 bags of equip for game day. Coach G. King is the total opposite. Your basic fab 5 poses, the epitome of no frills. On paper should be a blowout win every time for the Vikes. On the field it is a dog fight. The Bucs won the 1st match up on an off tackle run with no time left on the clock. This game was an instant classic with both coaches talking more trash than two garbage men on lunch break. The Bucs forced the Overtime with a late TD, but the Vikes won the flip, and then scored on their first drive of the extra session.

Raiders 17 Broncos 7

The Raiders avenged the earlier loss to the Broncos. These 2 NEFL rookie coaches may see a lot of each other if both stick around. The Broncos will need work on the offensive side of the ball. They play solid defense but the Raiders won the field position battle in this one. They seemed to stay on the Broncos side of the 50 all game.
