| the only thing that can be done is for players to pick em up whenever they can. doubt the park workers will spend extra time out at the fields picking up rocks.

| they will do something about it when its far too late and somone gets put in the hospital for an extended stay. We have had several people hurt this year after the new dirt was hauled in and it is very dangerous. I have seen the ball jump sevral feet right in front of players several times. Problem is no one can even volunteer to remove the rocks because of the union at the park, its ridiculous that volunteers cant even help because some week minded union worker is worried about his job security. Its a bad situation and we are tasked to deal with it when our hands are tied behind our back. I hope somone with any type of authority within the park board reads this and takes it for what its worth because this is not a problem that needs taken lightly, its not a matter of if somone is going to be seriously injured it's when.

| I agree with the rocks on the upper field. Also there is a small ditch behind second base that i have stepped in while fielding and the ball has takes some wicked hops when hitting it.

| wouldn't it be nice to see people that run the league saying that they will take care of this issue. Never see that. It could be as simple as organizing a couple of days to fix this issue. I am sure several people have 4 wheelers and a piece of chain link fence that we could drag the field and then pick up the rocks. Afterall we pay the same amount that we have for several years, and now have to provide balls, so money is going somewhere. Only see 1 ump most of the time. So just to prove my point and put some pressure on the powers that be. If you are willing to volunteer to pick up rocks, please post a comment. Then the ball is in their court and if someone gets hurt really hate to see that law suit.

| How do you propose that the people who "run the league" fix the issue? I don't know if you have paid much attention at all over the past 2 years, but the Park District is union. We are not allowed to do any work on the fields besides putting out bases. Much less using four wheelers.
I however would be one to donate my time to go out and spend an hour picking up rocks off the field. It would have to be after league one night because I'm not taking away time from my family to do it.
Good suggestion, post your name and we'll get a list of people willing to put in an hour one night to get rocks picked up! I will go back and edit this list as people add their name to this thread.

| Dan i don't want to take away from your busy work schedule, but the last time i checked the union was a joke. This is not 1970. You think those lazy guys drive by the field on the weekends. I have noticed the door on the scores booth on field 2 flaps in the wind all day long. You think they are gonna care about pickin up rocks. I keep hearing alot of excuses but i dont hear results. You run the website and formely run the league so i commend you for your feedback. But now someone else is in charge and they need to step up. If we can't do anything about it that is fine. But can the league leaders simply respond and tell us what steps they have taken to fix this problem. There is a new group of athletes that have arrived and we need to look at the future. People come and go, but what are we doing to build the future? I don't have to post my name to prove my point.

| its real simple, i have noticed alot of "softball guy's" don't work they just sponge off their wifes. The park drags the fields around late mornings. Meet at the park around noon. Pick up the rocks and place in bag. Throw away rocks. You have time to respond to reply's, you don't work, so pick up rocks.

| yea Dan, your wife has been supporting you for a long time. I can buy you a pooper scooper if you can't bend over and pick up the rocks. Did i mention you don't hit like you used too. Remember the good ole days when you could hit one over the fence.

| Dan knows this league well and he is right about the union, they wont allow us to do any work on the fields, I have talked to a couple of the guys that work for the park board and we arnt allowed to touch the fields, but the issue needs to be brought to there attention because im sure they dont want any of us getting hurt any more than we do. Add David Clark to the list I will help if they will let us get out there and do it.

Good luck in life with that.

| While my wife was at work supporting me Saturday, I was out enjoying a beautiful day of softball. I'm such a leach! I should really do more to earn my keep! Anyway, I took a shot to the forehead Saturday due to those rocks so if anyone should be complaining I should! I'd much rather complain about the no-namers who get on here and make themselves look dumb. I now feel dumber for having read your post!

| I don't think it's the rocks. Bad bounces have ALWAYS happened. It's just the sand gets compressed and hard underneath the surface and bad bounces happen.

| Saturday was ridiculous. behind 2nd base on the top field is nothing but rocks. if you think the bad bounces are from the hard dirt, you obviously haven't played the infield in a while on the top field. the rocks are 95% of the problem.

| I will help on the 15th and I am sure some of the KC team members would volunteer. However the City Workers that are Union cannot file a grievence on a non union non city employee. Correct me if I am wrong . It should not take too long if several help out.
