| Batter walks up to the plate, sets up and waggles the bat. Pitcher looks in and readies for the pitch. Ball floats in... batter not offering at the pitch so does not swing... or does he? Batter relaxes his stance and lets the bat fall off his shoulder. Bat whiffs across the plate as the ball passes to the catcher. Ball misses the mat, but did the doofus swing or not? No intent of swinging but the action of the bat resemmbled a swinging motion. I propose a new rule should make that a strike. Swing or Don't swing. No more lazy, check swing, fly-bye, Whiff action, phantom shit.

| No debate...if the batter swings before or after the ball gets to the plate it's a strike..no questions ask's...regardless if it hit the ground and missed the mat.
Swinging motion = Strike.......

| "Mr.October" I'm pretty sure what Stoopes is referring to is when guys kind of just motion at the ball as a way to sort of get their timing down. There's clearly no intention of actually hitting the ball - whether it hits the mat or not. We're not talking check swings here. Do you actually think that's a strike? Why don't we also say then that when I guy jumps off the base anticipating a hit and trying to get a good jump that they actually have to run to the next bag whether the guy hits the ball or not. Gimme a break

| jamie b: “Gimme a break.” Hey that’s my line. My lawyers will in touch with you for copyright infringement. Hahaha.
Mr. Stoopes. As for balls hitting the mat, check swings, etc., I‘ve got a revolutionary concept. LET THE UMPIRE CALL IT. We’ve got good umpires, they know the rules, let them make the call. Players should stick to playing ball, leave the officiating to umpires.

| You should all be tossed for arguing balls and strikes... I like the idea of "leave it up to the umps"
