| I try to stay positive on here as much as possible, but I dont know what kind of monkeys are making the decisions concerning field maintenance in this town?
I thought the rocks were bad, but it has been getting better since people have been picking them up...now they go and pour 3-4 inches of pure beach sand on the field??? You can't play short anymore, you have to play right next to the pitcher so you can even move around. You cant round first without going 60-0 mph in 1 second flat...and God forbid the ball does hit that stuff, it either stops right in it or skims right along the top...you absolutely cannot judge what it's gonna do coming in and out of that sandbox.
So anyway, I just wonder what kind of monkeys are making the decisions out there...and if we can persuade them to move some of that sand around so it is not like jogging in quicksand.
I'm sure my bitching has ticked off some of the "why can't we just get along'ers", so come ahead with the dog pile...but at the risk of them deciding to mix concrete onto the field next, can we ask them to fix this?

| Somebody is going to get hurt at first or short. This really needs to be addressed. I know the guys that run this don't get paid and that the city is in charge of the fields, but can you stand up for the players and tell them that this is unsatisfactory? You guys are the "faces" of the league and I know that nobody wants to see anyone get hurt. It is going to happen. Just a matter of time.

It does need to get fixed or Someone will get seriously injured. We pay big money for this league and IT NEEDS TO GET FIXED BEFORE THEY HAVE TO PAY FOR SOMEONES ER VISIT................

| What do very small rocks on the field have to do with you spraining your ankle when rounding first?

| it's not the rocks. there was a lot of sand put down of the field and first base is like a beach now. there are craters all around it and you can turn your ankle very easily if your not careful.

| This is city league softball. If you are in fear of getting hurt, don't play. If you don't play you will not be missed. Again, THIS IS REC. SOFTBALL. Quit complaining and just deal with it. We are not forcing you to play under these conditions. You are forcing yourself to play under these conditions.

| what a ra-tard....why does it matter if its rec ball, nationals or state tourneys? taking a ball in the face is just as bad regardless of talent level.
and downplaying rec ball is wrong. the games may not be as important, but a lot of the A division guys play on very good tourney teams and are very talented. when i see some of the best infielders getting beat up by bad hops, wearing mouthguards, playing deep in the grass, not squaring up on balls and making errors on otherwise easy plays its pretty obvious that something needs to be done.
simply put, the field conditions are very poor and dangerous. there is too much sand and its too deep(not to mention the rocks)as more players run through the infield during the games the bigger the divots get, hence the worse the bounces get. i have not played a game this year where someone has not gotten blasted by a bad bounce.
one would think that with Marions economy and high tax base the they would have decent fields that arent 30+ years old. too bad some other town doesnt step up and build a decent multi-field softball complex to allow more people to play help the sport to grow.

| Pretty sure that %100 of league players are working folks. The last thing u want to happen is getting hurt caused by bad field maintenance.
