The Twins found themselves honoring fellow teammate Micah Aumen Tuesday night at the first annual Micah Aumen Rubbin’s Racin’ Memorial Shootout. In heat number one, Jordan Arnold found himself as the pole sitter, but before the green flag was finished waving, was passed by an aggressive move by Larry Baumgardner. Baumgardner held the lead for a few laps before crafty veteran Scott Meckley, who drove the #20 CrackerBox Jewlery car, tracked him down. Kevin Green had a difficult time catching up to the leaders due to the fact that wearing shoes was required during the race. “I never enjoy wearing shoes. I feel like they slow me down,” stated Green after the race. Micah Fleming, driving the black and gold for Bulldog Racing, had a difficult time during the first heat. “Bulldog Racing put so many hours into this car, I didn’t want to ruin it for them.” Matt Martin had a difficult time controlling his car, and proved that it is humanly possible for a person to have more horsepower than a sprint car. Martin stated, “I would have been better off picking up my #18 White Knight car and carrying it around the track!”

In the much anticipated Micah Aumen Rubbin’s Racin’ Memorial Shootout feature, Matt Martin found himself as the pole sitter. Having first pick of his car, he choose the always quick #23 Greasy Black car. When asked why he selected this car, Martin replied, “Anything is better than the White Knight car. I would rather do push-ups than drive that thing again!” After winning the first heat, Meckley decided to make a bold statement by putting on eye black that he found by rubbing his dirty tires. “The sun was going down, and the track lights were very bright. I thought this would give me the edge I needed!” As the green flag dropped, Jordan Arnold found himself out in front. Martin in the Greasy Black car and Kevin Green, driving for Skechers Racing, found themselves trying to run down an awfully fast Arnold. After lap 3, Meckley found himself in a mess as his car blew a head gasket, and with help from spotter Tom Sixeas was able to maneuver his way to the pits. He was later spotted angrily jumping into the back of his car and pouting. Arnold was able to hold off a late push from the rest of the field, as he managed to win the feature. Larry Baumgardner was seen after the race protesting to the cashier about how Arnold’s car had an illegal engine. “A car of that stature cannot go that fast! I am going to find who is responsible for this and they will have some questions to answer.” After the race, with cash in his hands, Arnold was quoted as saying “I love this track. Thanks to Micah Aumen for making this possible. I just wish I could have put him into the wall once or twice!”
