| "Who Get's It," "Razzed," "Donkey," and several other words are terms I've noticed conveyed several times by one of our former teammates, Mr. Old Timer. I've tried to read thru some of the messages, but I have a hard time following them. Maybe I'm just not that smart, maybe I just don't "Get it."
Some of the messages appear to have a "shot" followed by a compliment, followed by a "shot" all in the same never ending sentence. I don't even know if I understand. Hopefully the recipients of the messages did not feel the "shots" were reflective of opinions by the SLP team.
I must not "Get it" but what in the heck does that even mean.
I used to think I "got it" but does flying home from work to kiss your son and wife goodbye while you are throwing on your jock strap, only to race to the game at mock speed with Eminem blasting, and then sprinting into the stadium just to catch a glimpse of the first pitch and grab one of the first handful of seeds mean you "get it." I'm not so sure.
Mr. OT must "Get it" because I don't even know what it means. I saw once where he referenced his swift typing speed and ability to send out posts at a crazy speed. Does he not know that half of us type for a living? Does that means he "gets it" and we don't...I have no flipping clue.
Some Grizzly Adams dude beat us twice in 4 days, threw 2,343 pitches, pumped his fist on 24 of the 54 outs, hit himself in the chest at least 30 times (on purpose), and never threw a fastball that would have broken a single pane window. Does he get it? I'm sure he thinks he does, and I have to tip my cap to him, it was gutsy (the pitching part only) and impressive. We clearly didn't "get it."
I just spent several days out of the past couple of weeks consuming Shiners and Boggsy's only to come home tip toeing in at 1:30 a.m.knowing the inevitable butt chewing would occur. I used to think I "Got it" but clearly I don't.
But rest assured, we will be back next year, boggsy's on ice, sons and daughters throwing harder than us, and a little less hair and hopefully, eventually, we will "Get it."
Best of luck to the remaining teams in state. As a person who has lived in numerous locations across the country, one thing I do "get" is that there are not any better and more organized leagues than town ball in Minnesota. Thank you to the umpires who put up with a lot of crap from a bunch of guys who don't "get it". Thank you to our families for letting us play for 243 years, and thanks to all the volunteers who pour hours into making townball work and have the fields ready.
Oh yeah, and OT, we may have to razz and donkify you a little more.

| You have to play Class B to "get it". It would be silly to play a state tournament without drafting 2 stud pitchers and a catcher.

| No no no. Raider29, you CLEARLY don’t get it. You see, in order to “get it”, you just get it, get it? If you got it, then you’d get it. Still not fizollowing me? Let me take you to school for a bit.
Getting it means that you’ve got to play 18974 baseball games. You’ve got to have plizayed 37 years before 99% of the guys you’re plizaying with were just a sparkle in their pappy’s eye. It doesn’t matter what story you tell, because you’re donkey-@ss will be one-upped by me with the most rambling of ramblings. You have to be completely delusional not only with how good you are, but how good you WERE. Because if you were a realist, then you’d understand………… it was 5 years ago since you should have stopped, but now you throw 83-87 and be able to type almost as fast as you throw.
In order to get it, you have to have PLAYYYYED on 17 different town ball teams, and burned bridges with 95% of the “cats” you played with. The 5% you’re……. still friends with, you’ll seize any moment you possibly can to throw them under the bus in order to get the spot light back on you.
Getting it isn’t something you can learn, it’s something you earn. And since you can only earn it by rules that I make up on the spot, but continually change in order to account for my most recent run on sentence, then it’s not something you can really earn. Basically, getting it is something only a select few are born with, making it a small fraternity of Get It Guys.
Oh, and you have to needlessly hate the Crapline League as a starting pooooooooooooooooooooooooint!

| As one of the people that has been thrown under the bus by Old Timer, on and off the field, it is clear that I do not "get it". 78423 hit a home run with his comments.
I will not bore the entire forum with my career stats from the age of 9. I am clearly not "good enough" nor will ever be to compete with Old Timer no matter how many stats I quote.
Good Luck to all the teams left in State!
Disclaimer: Old Timer "opinions" in no reflect the feeling or thoughts of SLP Veteran or the SLP team. SLP Veteran and team would like to offer our apologies to all of the others out there that do not "get it" nor ever will "get it".

| Raider 29 is right about townball in Minnesota and about all of us needing to thank all of those that do the work behind the scenes to make our leagues run as smoothly as they do. In regards to getting it, I have to thank 78243 for the education because I was clearly ignorant and did not get it. There isn’t much worse than an ignorant person not understanding that they are ignorant so thank you for clarifying for me because I used to think I got it then was told I didn't get it. I now realize that I did get it all along but am now confused about which "it" that I actually got and do I need a shot to get “it” taken care of. We all come out every day and play the game because we enjoy it. None of us are currently getting paid to play. Some of us did in the past, some of us may in the future, but most of us will never have that opportunity. The thing that makes this fun to do is that most realize that this is townball and don’t treat it as if this is our “pro ball”.

| Yeah, that's one of the drawbacks of getting "it". Sometimes you don't want "it", but unfortunately you can't control "it". So getting rid of "it" sometimes is more problematic than getting "it". Therefore, those of you that don't get "it" should actually be thankful you don't, and hope you never contract "it" (did I mention previously "it" was contagious? You can contract "it" like Shingles, or 5-6 Mickey's/night). So maybe getting "it" is a bad thing, but it can't be bad since I've got "it" so it must be good. Follow my lizogic?!?!?!?!

To: SLP Player
You don't have to expalin yourself..."we" all know he does not represent your ball club. For those who play against you and have had the opportunity to get to know you guys over the years, you have always been a class act.Win or lose. Just down right good players and good guys. Old Timer just sucks. He's Old News.
Look forward to seeing how this weekend plays out.
Peace,
"The 17"
I get "it", I guess.

| I think I "got it" once awhile back, but "it" dried up and fell off, so I just covered "it" up in the batter's box. So we've all probably stepped on "it" before, we just didn't know "it".

| OT loves to "stir" things up since he really "gets it" or doesn't he? He loves to throw out rankings and predictions so I will throw out mine.
Top 3 people who really "get it" 1. OT-he donkifies people with his 84 MPH pitches and doesn't "get it" why the Park team all fake bunted on their first pitch the first time through the order. Then the guy who "gets it" posts on the forum like he beat Park when in reality he came out of the game down 5-2 only to have Park have another blowup in the 9th inning to lose the game 6-5 long after 84MPH throwing OT left the game. He "gets it."
2.letroseinhof- he really "gets it" with his preposterous statement that Stockmen's had a good first weekend beating the 8 seed from their own league and then getting 10 runned
3. Let's get serious, this is all about OT since he is the only one who truly "gets it", or does he?????????

| 84 mph??? I think you guys are giving him way too much credit for his fastball. At one time, OT was able to bring the heat but that was a very long time ago when he did "get it". However, all of us are getting older and we think we still "have it" but reality is slowing setting in for all of us who think we still "got it". It's said to think that the summer is already coming to an end. I will miss these ridiculous post for the next 8 months. Until next year..

| Flareman, he absolutely throws 84, and does so with a little of this and a little of that (as I'm using hand movements to illustrate cutting and tailing). Every now and then he'll really let it rip, buzzing 87-88. Haven't you seen the weighted lead ball he warms up with? It's like the fountain of youth for arm tendons. I think everyone should use one. It gives you an extra 7-8 mph EASILLY.
You don't believe us? Just ask OT...

| Like I said I had "it", but "it fell off, because I feel the need to make sure readers could see the sarcasm when I wrote "nice work by the Stockmen" for their stellar showing so far. No blame on them, they didn't design the brackets, but they haven't shown anyone anything in this tourney yet.

| P-Nash Fan,
For guys that have been around for a bit, they would remember Old Timer, but newer guys might not. OT was a guy who played for Park (and actually quite a few other teams), who would just love to get into it with guys on the forum. Every so often, he would go on tirades that would ruffle some feathers. These usually consisted of making aggregious statements like he was the fastest typer ever, and would often misuse punctuation. It was almost always in good nature, but there were a few times (I think this thread was one of them) where dudes would lash out at him. It was actually really awesome when he would post here because you never quite knew what he was going to say or do, and it added a little bit of excitement to the board. I was just remeniscing and thought I'd drum it up again for old time(r)'s sake...
