| Dave and Korn,
2 major issues in todays game vs the Ravens, both occuring on the same play costing us 30yds!
1 - A "Shoulder Block" flag was thrown on an offensive pass play. A shoulder block is legal unless on a change of possession. I informed the ref of this rule and he continued to argue with me. After confirming with Korn during the game he then changed his call to Unnecessary Roughness....That is complete BS because that was not the original call. The main issue is that our refs don't understand our own rules, this can't be acceptable.
2 - Our O-lineman was called for holding. On the next play the O-line made a comment "Did I hold him on that play too" The ref warned the player, but than proceeded to get in the players face telling him to "Keep his mouth shut...." Our O-lineman told the ref politely and calmly "Don't talk to me like that" resulting in a 15yd unsportsmanlike. The ref admitted he got in the players face saying "He was taking control of the situation" A ref should never get in a players face. He was completely out of line and unprofessional. I don't care about the penalty....Players can't get in refs faces, refs should not be getting in players faces!

| K.J. I saw Timmy's block and thought it was clean, and really not too hard anyway. As for the ref changing the call to "cover" himself will be addressed. No ref should feel he's bigger than the game, and he should be "man" enough to admit his wrong doing. You are correct also...Any player can block with his/her(Bacis and Baker) shoulder as long as it's not on a kick-off, punt, or change of poss.
As far as the O-Lineman goes...I agree w/you aswell. Refs need not take some of the things we say so personally. A ref shouldn't get in any players face, and I know who you're reffering to. I will speak to him and address this aswell. However, moving forward I feel it's fair to say that certain officials may be known for certain things. This is not an excuse for their actions, but I know before games we always discuss certain refs hot buttons and try not to push'em. You've been around a while, and you know what I mean...still I agree and it's not right..it is what it is!!
All teams need to have a SCRUB like me on their team so they can be the "designated arguer", so when I get kicked out....OH WELL!!!!

| Sadly this is nothing new. Every week it is something different. One week shoulder blocks are COMPLETELY not allowed and next week its OK. The one problem I have is there really seems to be no consistency w/in the rule and thats all I want.

| All good points regarding situations that escalate, when it should be avoided. A situation that happened in our game vs the Dolphins this past Sunday, was easily corrected because I ALWAYS carry the rule book with me to all games. There was a situation about the clock running or not running after a TD. Both team reps met with the Ref's, and the rule book explained it and the game continued. Rules like this AND the use of shoulders is clearly stated in the rule book which is why ALL teams AND refs should have a copy with them at each game. However, the issue about refs escalating situations with player(s) is not so clearly defined. WHile I do agree 100% that the ONLY professionals on the field are the (well)paid refs, there is, weather we like it or not, a human element involved. Does'nt make it right, but it is the reality. I was kicked out of a game for a similair situation 2 yrs ago. So i know first hand at what you are speaking about. Mad as hell at the time, but realized that emotions are involved.

| The problem is they really just don't know our rules. They come from different leagues that have different rules, case and point what dave was referring to in our past game.
I will definately carry the rules with me every week from now on, but that same rule that was corrected at half of the dolphins packers game was not even up for debate when the same refs did the ravens dolphins game.

| also the older ref who did the yard markers in the middle of the field this past week against the packers and dolphins is really getting in the way of the flow of the game.
This is my second complaint about this ref. While some of you "older" players may enjoy the extra time it takes him to move the "chains" it is becomming a problem because he takes his sweet ass time to set the markers on a first down which allows the defense to set up to offenses that run no huddle or quicker offenses. His inability to get out of the way got him run over this past week in our game and I know he is too slow to run the sidelines so my question is... can we just get rid of him since he cant do his job?
Overall nice guy, but lets face it the game has past him by.

| Well one week i was warned twice as a ref told our team we could NOT jam a receiver passed 5 yards...
LOL, guys on other teams are blowing people up in the top of their route...
I was like are you serious.... Same ref called PI for a guy face-guarding which in our league as long as you don't touch the player if he is coming back for the ball is also legal. This isn't the NFL and I agree... contesting calls to some extent should be allowed if the referee does not know the rule.
When the referee clearly states ignorance to our rules and a rulebook is handy we should be able to call a timeout and get a penalty reversed as the process should be fast if the referee makes a clear and concise call and says why...
The whole process should take no longer than 2-3 minutes and if the team wins the process should be refunded the time out.
