| Please note the message from the town of Markham below.
Due to the very wet conditions that we have been experiencing for the past couple of weeks, combined with the rain that is forecast later this week, we are going to keep all Sportsfield closed until Friday May 6th. We need a few days of dry, ideally sunny weather, to allow the fields to dry up and become playable.
I know that everyone is anxiously awaiting the start of the season to be able to get out and start playing. However I do want to caution groups that using fields before they are ready can cause a lot of damage that can take the better part of a season to repair.
We ask that all sports groups communicate with the their teams the need to respect the fields at this time of the year and not allow your teams to be using the fields. It is only one week but I can make a big difference to the quality of the field for the remainder of the season.
We have to reschedule all the games from May 2th to the 4th.
