Gentlemen:

Heard some news today about a long time friend of St. Paul League and Skyline League amateur baseball that I wanted to pass along to the leagues.

Gary Rinehart has recently learned that he has stage 4 cancer and will start chemo immediately.

Please keep Rhino in your thoughts and pass along some encouragement as he battles this disease.

Sincerely,
Jim Anderson

This is the stuff that is real life.

My mother has been battling stage 4 terminal lymphoma since January '10 and my prayers go out to Rhino and his family.

A long time ago he was a focal point of a recruting visit of mine as he was an upperclassman. Needless to say due in part to many things I woke up with wet pants and no recollect of the last few hours of the night.

Simply stated then and now and the few other times in between the last near three decades I have had the pleasure of being in his presence all I can say is he is a good guy and solid person.

The obvious serious nature of this is baseball is not life it is part of what we all live however in the grand scheme of things it means realitively nothing.

News like this brings a dose of serious reality to anyone who has a heart.

I barely know the man but from what I do know I am sure there is plenty of fight in him.......

......nothing else to say.......
