| There have been issues in other leagues about fastpitch bats being used.
Fastpitch bats, are for fastpitch leagues. Period. Only bats that appear on the ASA Approved Bat List should be used. You can find this list on the ASA website under "Certified Equipment." (http://www.asasoftball.com/about/certified_equipment.asp)
Every team should print this list out and have it with them at every game in the event you feel a bat is in question.
Umpires can't certainly know of every single legal and illegal bats.
We are insured by ASA for slow-pitch, therefore I don't want to see anyone using non approved bats. To me fastpitch bats are like baseball bats. They are to be used in the sports that they are intended to be used in. Not only am I trying to protect the league and myself, but you as well.

| ILLEGAL BAT: - BASS "KEISH"
A commissioner from my weekday league (also ASA govern rules) stated that he talked to an ASA Rep Kevin from Oklahoma and Kevin stated that if a bat IS NOT ON THE APPROVED bat list, then it is not to be used in ASA play.
Bats are tested at different times throughout the year and when they are approved, they get added to their updated list.
Again, if anyone in this league has one of these bats, please don't try to hide it and use it. It's a legality reason and most importantly a safety reason. I can't police all the games/bats used, so it's up to each manager to print out the APPROVED LIST and if you feel a bat is illegal, pull out the list and solve the argument easily.
