| 1. Minnetonka 40-4. Favorites every year to win it all 2. Angels 22-11. Have 4 serious pitchers and staff to make deep run. 3. Stockmens Irish 25-7. Defending champs, was it a fluke or are they for real? 4. Capitals 21-17. Best team in deep St. Paul league. Have the hitters do they have enough pitching? 5. Park 32-14. Lost some vets but still scary 6. Shamrocks 17-10. Always solid to make a good showing in the tournament 7. Lakers 17-18. Youthful team upset Tonka last year, pitching is a concern. 8. Merchants 16-10. Suprising team that demolished Patriots and on a roll. Sneaky pick 9. Bloomington 18-16. Down year compared to past couple. Still have a ace that can get them to game two. 10. River Pirates 10-8. St. Thomas kids always scrappy and can beat you in a variety of ways. 11. Hogs - Have good pitching but can they outslug opponents? 12. Rooster - Upset Shark to get back to the tourney, solid club but lack dominant arms.
Prediction: Tonka over Angels

| Lakers vs River Pirates = A match-up of youth. I expect a lot of stolen bases and small ball. Lakers win a close one 4-3. Round 2: Minnetonka vs Lakers = Lakers upset Tonka last year but there will be no Gotham pitching this year to bail them out. Tonkas offense is too much in this one 8-4.
Hogs vs Bloomington = I smell a pitchers duel in this one with Bandits ace Gist winning 4-2. Round 2: Angels vs Bandits = Angels 1-2 combo of Naegli/Morshing vs Bandits Christopherson/Post will be a great match-up. Hometown crowd plays a factor but Angels veterans come through late in comeback win 6-4.
Park vs Rooster = Although Park lost some veteran leadership way too much firepower from them as two home runs are the difference here 7-4. Round 2: Angels vs Park = Great pitching match-ups in a low scoring game. Angels and there pitching staff is a tad better than Parks here. Who ever makes the errors will be the difference, could go either way. Angels 4 Park 2.
Shamrocks vs Merchants = My gut tells me to go with the Shammies and there steady play in state the past 5 years. Merchants have been hot lately and I will roll with them in another nail biter 5-4. Round 2: Irish vs Merchants = Stockmens are the defending champions and have a deep staff and the hitting to repeat. Theres a team every year that surprises us and Merchants were my sneaky pick and will stick with them in a extra innings shocker 6-5.
Round 3: Minnetonka vs Merchants = Merchants luck runs into a buzz saw as Millers are rested and hungry. Too much Tonka talent 7-3. Round 3: Angels vs Park = I see this game being one of the best of the tourney vs two veteran teams. I like the Angels to come back once again in late inning heroics 8-6.
Title game: Minnetonka vs Angels = Tonka wins in the semi finals as Saladberger goes deep to break open the game. Millers staff is too much Tonka 6 Angels 2. Losers bracket: Angels beat Park once again in in another close game 10-7. Tonka wins championship again 9-5 as Angels blow too much pitching vs Park. Minnetonka wins there 11th class A title game and retires into the sunset as the best franchise of all time moving on to class B or C.

| Correction: long day....... Capitals vs Park
Round 2: Park vs Capitals = Capitals are the top dog in St Paul and have a high powered offense and have a lot of old Rosetown sluggers . Probably a offensive shoot-out here but see the core of Park getting the job done 9-7.

| Mnbball you have been right on in the Park National, so it's tough to go against you here. Should be an interesting 1st weekend with the new single-elimination format. Sounds like a blast. There will be beer sold the 1st weekend. Come out and support Class A Baseball. Players on any Class A team can get in for $6 a game, or $10 for all 16 games. My North Side math tells me that is about 63 cents per game. It is OUR tourney, let's get Class A guys to come out and watch baseball.

| So, let me make sure I understand your predictions.....
No St. Paul or Skyline teams will remain in the State Tournament after August 12?
Haven't seen a ton of games this year but curious about one thing.... could you fill me in on how the all-star games went? Seems like St. Paul/Skyline is probably worthy of an occasional win?
I realize the Riverview website shows that their teams have had success against other class A teams but realistically I see Shamrocks/River Pirates shutting down the offenses of the teams they play and Stockmens deserves some credit here.

| The Angels were my preseason pick, and I'm sticking with them. Last year, they ran into the Millers' buzz saw the opening weekend and got bounced. The bracket breaks down more favorably this year, though Bloomington or St. Anthony could pose a challenge with their good pitching. Really, in single elim, you're only as good as that day's starting pitcher. Should be interesting I have to imagine it's all hands on deck in that first round game, leaving the no. 1 seeds with a significant advantage on Sunday.

| First time posting this year and thought i would contribute to the bantor.
River Pirates beat Lakers then lose to Minnetonka. Bloomington beats Saint Anthony then upsets Angels. Saint Louis Park beats Rooster then lose to Capitals. Merchants beats Shamrocks then lose to Stockmens.
Past two state champions square off in finals. Minnetonka is the better team and wins.
