| Hello everyone!
I hope you enjoyed your summer and your children have had a smooth start to the 2012 – 2013 school year! It’s been awhile since you’ve received a Winston Prep School update! This is due to the significant energy and efforts that have recently been dedicated to the multi-million dollar development project on our Connecticut WPS campus. This exciting project is well on its way now, which allows us to once again focus on opening a Winston Prep School in New Jersey. This summer Scott Bezsylko, Executive Director of WPS, presented the information that was gathered from our preliminary research, focus groups and surveys to the Board of Trustees. The board was enthusiastic about the preliminary findings, and decided to devote its efforts to a formal six - month investigation in order to further assess the need for Winston Prep in New Jersey. At the end of our investigation, we will decide if we should move forward with opening a third school as soon as September 2014.
In order to move forward, a core enrollment for the inaugural class must be established. Thus, we need to identify at least 30 – 40 families that are ready to formally commit to a September 2014 enrollment. Therefore, if you or anyone you know has a child with learning differences that may be a suitable candidate for WPS, here are some ways you can help make WPSNJ a reality:
- If you have already attended a focus group and have a child (grades K – 12) that you feel may be a good candidate for Winston Prep, contact me (Erica Piche) to set up a private meeting where your questions regarding Winston Prep that are specific to your child will be answered. Subsequently, if you determine you would like to move forward, we will begin the application process.
- If you are a parent that has not attended a meeting, but feels your child may be an appropriate student for Winston Prep, please contact me. I am happy to answer general questions and can inform you of our next parent focus group, so you can learn more about WPS educational philosophies.
- Please spread this email to as many people as you can… EVEN IF YOU DON’T THINK THEY ARE INTERESTED IN WPS FOR THEIR CHILD, they may know someone who is!
- If you know any clubs, organizations or professionals in your area that we could touch base with, so they could help spread the word or assist in any other way, please let us know!
- Contact me if you would like to host a WPS informative parent meeting or know a venue that would.
We are certainly getting closer to making this school materialize, but we can’t take a deep breath quite yet. Please help in this important part of the process, as we attempt to allow children with learning differences to have a place to learn differently in our area!
