some of us don't have free Sundays and need to schedule help to come in while we participate in this softball league...any idea when we can expect a schedule?

What's your problem?
We all are waiting on schedules, what's makes you so important that you think you need it quicker than anyone else?
People have lives outside this league, including the people who run it.
Try asking like an adult next time.

We all have families and jobs and receive NO compensation for our time organizing the league. I suggest you pick a different league if you are going to be an a**.

I have the right to ask a reasonable question...CHILL...never said I need a schedule BEFORE anyone else...I too have a job, a business that is 24/7 in nature,am a wife and mother,in order for me to play,I need to schedule employees ahead of time to care for my elderly and disabled clients as they cannot EVER be left alone...and for the record I DO play in other leagues...who's schedules are out and ready all the way into the middle of JUNE...thank you!

So I don't have a dog in this fight but I do understand the complexity that life has to offer however if.you are in charge of running a league then you need to do that. That is a priority in your life that you chose to take on. I have run a Babe Ruth League as the League President as well as hadbwork, family, softball league I played in, as well as lifespan little glitches that arise. It is the job of the board members to keep the league flowing like a well oiled unit. In the years I have played in Tualatin I have noticed that the league meeting seems to be later and later which cramps scheduling and teams. If the existing board members are unable to do the jobs for which they have chosen to so then i think in the interest of the league they step away and new blood in. The past few years there have been a lot of complaints as to how the league is run from scheduling, how teams are placed in divisions, to the fact that the meetings are getting later and teams have until the last minute to join the league. In other leagues if you with your league you automatically get moved up and if you lose your league get moved down. Why not this league? Right now it is left up to the board, at least that is my understanding, and that is unfair to other teams. Anyway I enjoy playing in the league but i hate all the complaining. I was making suggestions and really don't care either way. I so think it is crazy that the schedule is a week to week thing. It needs to be out. I agree that we all have lives that we need to schedule around and with it being week to week it becomes difficult to arrange.

PAC & others:

I want to be clear and ensure there's no misunderstanding, your points are good and valid. I agree that it's very difficult to schedule your outside life/work life if you don't know the times of the games. We have a team made up of ALL employees, so I get the frustrations of not knowing everything in enough advance. We have multiple shifts of people and from all walks of life, but I guess there's a right and wrong way to ask from my perspective. Posting your complaints and yelling from a distance doesn't help or resolve anything. Everyone's contact information is available to call, organize a meeting, or email privately to get your point across to the people who can actually do something about it. Trust, I know first hand that they listen to ALL complaints, compliments, questions, and concerns...but if you're just going to whine and complain on a message board, I don't have a lot of respect for that (neither does the board).
Quickly touching on the overall impression of the league, everyone needs to take a step back and remember why this league is even here. It was made up of the communities inside the City of Tualatin. It was neighborhoods, families, and small business owners who wanted to BBQ and play a non-competitive sport that everyone in the community could support around the Crawfish Festival. There has always been a more "relaxed" attitude to not only the competition level, but the board and people who volunteer their time to help the league have always been there for fun.
My main point is that if you don't like things about the league, then stop paying your money and demanding that it gets a complete revamp to accommodate "your" needs.
We all knew that when we signed up games would be between 2-8pm on Sundays, we all knew that the league is based on a non-competitive basis, and we all knew this is a small town league that has lots of families and less ex-pro ball players.
****BUT I do agree that we also expect to have schedules in a timely fashion, and the safety of our players priority number one.

I'm guessing there will be some changes to how things are organized to not only help the schedules, but also with the league layout. But I also respect what the board says and does, you will NEVER make everyone happen, so if you hate it that much...I personally would just suggest a different league that fits your priorities.

P-MT,

Very well said. I agree with everything you said. Like I said I don't have a dog in the fight and I really enjoy the low key aspect to this league. That is why I continue to play in it. My comments may have come across in the wrong way. It is difficult to make everyone happy and I guess I was trying to be peace keeper.

Let's all have a Great Season!!!!

If only it were just as easy as prioritizing our time so that getting the schedule out in a timely manner was possible.

Each year is different... but just this year we have the following hurdles.

1. 50% of the teams don't get their $$ in on time. So do we just cut them all out? Drop the team count to 15 teams?... or do we plead and beg to get the $$ in so we can have a decent league?

2. The board meets and makes a determination about which teams belong in which division. We do this by comparing last season with teams returning. Unfortunately... this brings a Shi* storm of complaints about "We want to be in B"... "We won't play if you put us in A".. We deserve". You fill in the blank.

All of this puts us in a position where we are trying to make changes and keep people happy.

For the record, I agree... we should be just moving people up and down based on success. That decision though rests with the league president.

I suggest that if you would like to make some changes, you volunteer to help run it... we ask every year... with very few volunteers. I would be HAPPY to step down from the board.

why is the league catering to certain teams wants its retarded. I have never heard so much bitching in a leauge before how stupid. If you dont have your money in on time then beat feet. If you dont like the division your put it and then say we wont play in a certain division you should beat feet. Frankly getting a little tired of the princess attitudes from some of the teams its BS. Take what your given and shut up
