Gentlemen,

During a game on Monday night at Milliken we had an unfortunate accident. Two players were attempting to catch a ball. There was a violent collision between Danny Hatzis and Dillon Lumsden of the Steven Tar Masters team. Danny was knocked unconscious for about 2 minutes. Errol Mendoza and Scott McDonald called 911 and while awaiting them were lucky enough that a Mom was watching her son play on the opposite diamond and heard them asking for a nurse or doctor. She come over and helped them stabilize Danny till the paramedics did their thing. They took both of them to MSH.

Dillion was released from the hospital with a very sore shoulder and neck after giving him an anti-inflammatory shot and some Tylenol 3.

Danny unfortunately was kept overnight.  His brother, Chris said he was asking if anyone got the licence of the truck that hit him. Danny is sore on his right side, received seven stiches on his lip, his left cheekbone is swollen and he has a shiner. He was released earlier this morning.

They would both like to thank you for their best wishes. We hope to see them both on the field shortly.

Thank-you to the USPL for your support during a difficult time for my family. For those who are not aware my brother Danny was involved in a freak accident during his game Monday night which resulted in a stay at MSH. Dillon Lumsten who was also involved in the collision was also checked out at  MSH for his injuries and hung around to make sure things were ok for us. My family attends a lot of ball games and really appreciate how quickly everyone went to the field to lend a hand while waiting for the ambulance. Special thanks to Errol Mendonza and Scott McDonald who spent time with us Monday night at the hospital and returned on Tuesday to check on Danny. Thank you again to all who have called and e-mailed to make sure Danny was ok and to ask if we needed anything.

I would also like to mention two people who helped stabilize my brother right after the collision.
Vic Taylor and Jennifer Diprata who is a nurse were watching another game at Milliken but when my niece went looking for help came right over to assist.

Remember to call for the ball to avoid this in the future. Best Wishes for a speedy recovery.
