| Guys, The playoffs are finally upon us. On behalf of all the umpires, I want to wish everyone good luck. As always, play hard, play safe, have fun, and always (ALWAYS!) show good sportsmanship. Those things are what our league is all about.
See you on the diamond, Jim_the_Ump

| How great is the competition for the championship this year. Four teams have one loss already, long way to go now. Crazy. Anything can happens. Fun times.

| Why would someone get kicked out of a connie game?

| If you are referring to last night's Connie game between the School and Harding .. the player was ejected for using profanity towards one of the umpires. Whether the call was right or wrong (it was right, he left way early) we need to be respectful of the umpires and each other on the field. To be even more clear, there is no animosity between these two teams (we get along very well) and it was a response to a play. The player left the game without further incident.

| Guys, Speaking of profanity, I’d ask you all to make an effort to watch you language on and around the diamond, especially this weekend. I want to remind everyone that there will be more than a few family, friends and fans around the ballparks during the playoffs, and the loud use of foul language to express any frustration reflects poorly on you, your team and our league.
To be clear, any profanity directed towards or about an umpire is grounds for immediate ejection. But at the same time, we understand frustration and being vocal (as long as it isn’t being vocal at an umpire) is sometimes a good way to vent. But there are better ways to vent than screaming out F-Bombs at the top of your lungs. Just sayin’. If you need to vent, trying doing in a softer tone, ok?
Best of luck to all, Jim_the_Ump

| The School is the most dysfunctional team in this league, they lack self-restraint.

| I don't understand why guys come on here and make derogatory statements behind their pseudonym. What's constructive about your comment Sanford?? The ump reminded us that it's just a game...to watch our language...and to enjoy the weekend with wives, kids and friends...and then you throw more fuel on the fire.
Grow up man. Grow some balls and use your real name if you want pick on someone (or a team). This forum is getting brutal for this.

| Of course, we all surmised before the season that many of the past contenders would be great, so it shouldn't come as a shock that Duchess, DST, TAR, Arms and others were in great positions in late September. As the season went on, we looked at the game results and begin to project what the playoffs will bring, it became impossible to ignore the question of which teams will be squaring off in Final for all the marbles. A lot of times, you can simply look at the game results and remove them from consideration immediately. While playing quality opponents with a shorter bench (good players absent) may not help in the standings, it makes it that much more difficult to reach late September unscathed. We're looked at some intriguing matchups and tossing rankings (for the most part) out the window with the double knockout format. It was the greatest thing we have done as a league, every pitch had the potential to hurt a team. The best two teams made it to the show. The improvement of teams like Crupi and Pools Boys predicts a brighter future for teams in the bottom of the standings.
