On a very dreary night at Cook Field, the rain almost seemed to be an appropriate accompaniment to the pregame ceremonies and the game itself. The re-dedication of the field was a very good ceremony, especially for those who weren't necessarily familiar with who Cpl. Cook was and what he sacrificed so many years ago. Then as if more emotion needed to be added to the night, the moment of silence for Mary Beth Cornwell reminded each of us that life is never guaranteed, and that we need to be thankful for every moment we are given. The emotional roller coaster that has surrounded this version of the Rams football team has been a very bumpy one, and to come thru to this point at 3-2 is very respectable.

The game itself was almost a footnote to the night, and by that I don't mean any disrespect to the teams involved. Overall the Rams played a very strong game, against one of Class A's elite teams. The running game was pounding and Luke ran the ball very hard the whole night, the passing game was effective especially considering Mother Nature's contributions to the night, and the defense looked very strong for much of the night. Really the only downfall that showed itself last night was the amount of penalties that were flagged against the Rams. Overall though, it was a much improved effort over the game at Perry Central.

In conclusion, we have been reminded once again that the game of football is in fact just a game, and that sometimes it gets trumped by real life events. Please, in whatever way that you do, continue to remember the entire Cornwell family.
