| Some of the top boys teams playing today or tomorrow, among them Varela, will be missing several key players.
This will definitely affect the outcome of the games and standings. Supposedly in one game, the opposing coach refused to reschedule the match knowing that he had a big advantage, if it is true what a shame!

| When you make a commitment to play for a team whether it is your high school team or a club team that commitment must be 100% one way or the other. I applaud the coach who refused to reschedule his game because of the opponent missing players due to a club tournament.

| The missing players did not affect Varela. They came out with a 4-0 victory against Coral Reef.

| High School teams should be penalized for postponing games because they are missing players due to club tournament play. That's like postponing games because your top players are injured/sick. It sets a bad precedent for the sport at the high school level. You should play the cards you're dealt. Your players want to play club, let them go play club.

| High School Soccer or Academy/Club? High school will never get you a soccer scholarship, that is not why high schools sports were created and that is not their mission. Public schools are free and they have a different mission than the one club/academies have. A high school season starts in November and it ends in January for most boys teams....club soccer is played almost all year long. If you want to play, improve, evolve and pay then club soccer is for you. High School soccer is for pride and recognition from your peers, classmates and the community (Miami Herald). Most coaches are teachers...and they do not dream of becoming professional soccer coaches, they barely get pay to do this and they do it because they enjoy competitive sports and the experience. Believe me when I say that is not easy to deal with teens and high school sports, otherwise people would be applying for those jobs in massive numbers.

| Anytime you try to manipulate the outcome of any competitive contest, and postponing a soccer match because you are missing a few players due to a club tournament, you are trying to manipulate the outcome. It's called cheating. As a high school coach,is that the message you want to deliver to your players? Win at all cost, it is o.k. to cheat. That's the message you're sending these kids and you do not belong in high school athletics, for that matter you should be banned for sports completely.

| I disagree with those of you that somewhat believe, high school soccer is simply for proud and for the community. maybe you're talking from experience but as far as I know, there are some great high school program that are outhere and none of their players are playing clubs. Yes for many of you this maybe hard to believe and I'm sure some of you going to disagree, but let's wait for this season to finish I'll show you some phenomenal high school program that are working hard outhere. furthermore, where do you think the clubs got their players from, ...........right at the high school during the tournement, or after the high school season is over, coaches from all over are asking the high school coaches for their top players to join their clubs. I know a coach that sent at least 2 to 3 players to college every year and none of them never played club. I like the idea of club soccer but please don't minimize the hard work a lots of great coaches are putting outhere to coach their high school program. and trust me , this year i know just one school that is now ready to take on any team but yet none of their players are playing clubs.............

| The number of players from Miami who play in college is no where near the number that played from Miami in the 70's & 80's. Club soccer, while offering better competition, does nothing for the player from a scholastic perspective. Most players from Miami have neither the grades, discipline or intelligence to attend college, much less go to class and play a sport.
High School offers at least that.
Coaches who cancel games due to missing platers are a disgrace to the game and their schools. They are everything we were taught not to be growing up, but are teaching the next generation to be weak. Everyone knows who they are and what they stand for, and what they stand for is themselves. All that teaches is when you think you are good enough, give up and hide. I would imagine these same coaches would 'retire' when their teams don't have the players and then suddenly reappear when the player pool improves. A joke.
