| As the regular season comes to a close in Florida it seems that girls soccer in Florida has fallen off a bit since last season. Last year at this time there were 7 or 8 teams from Florida ranked in the Top 20 Nationally, this year just 2. The two teams are 4A Melbourne at #6 and #14 American Heritage plantation in 3A. I think Lourdes tied American Heritage this year but beat them last year. 5A St. Thomas Aquinas is rebulding and was at #1 and #2 all of last regular season and now is #22. 5A Douglas last season was ranked in the top 10 as well but has fallen out of the National picture. Palm Beach Central who was ranked #14 last year when Lourdes beat them is also off the radar nationally this season. Just outside the top 20 you have Lourdes at #23 and Gulliver at #24. So, it seems that the State title for 1A, 2A and 5A are wide open this year, more so then in years past and it will be the team who hits their stride over the next few weeks that will prevail. Good luck to all, but especially to our Miami Dade Teams!!
