| Easy answer Juan. Some students apply to magnet programs. Every public school has them and very few of them play sports. Most if not all of Coral Reef players are magnet students and there is nothing illegal about it. But you can tell you athletic director if you wish.

| Jose is correct. Also, since Southridge was a "F" school many families took advantage of no kids left behind and transfered to other schools allowing them to play at that school. If someone goes to a magnet school and that school does not offer their sport, then they can play for their home school. Since the topic is Southridge, I will ask this. How many players on that team does not attend Southridge but Robert Morgan instead.Since Robert Morgan does not have sports programs these players are playing for their home school, Southridge.

| To Ferguson coach and coach, they just transfer, they are not in any magnet program. They just give a different address. You only need a bill with that address and say I live with my aunt. The last time Southridge was a F school was 3 years ago.

| That falls on the school registrar. Any coach can “recruit” anyone they want. It is up to the registrar to determine if that student is legally allowed to attend that school. Even when I was in school students would show a bill with their family name on it and the address with a school boundary to gain entry into that school. The only way the school board can track these students down is to actually go to these homes unexpectedly to see is the student actually lives there. The school board does not have the resources to do this. I know this does happen in some schools especially in football but it is almost impossible to stop. What I can tell you is that if caught, the coach, registrar gets fired and the players family can face charges. I have seen it for myself. You have every right to be upset Juan and if I where in you situation, i would be upset too!

| No, a coach may not “recruit.” Any coach who approaches a student from another school and encourages him/her to apply for admission to their school is in violation of FHSAA and GMAC rules on recruiting. This is true if the student lies about their address, and it’s true if they student applies to another school under the pretense of transferring out of an “F” school or to a magnet program. If the coach entices the student to transfer in any manner they are in violation. The same rule applies to private schools: if anybody (coach, asst. coach, parent, booster) approaches a student and encourages them to attend a private school for the purposes of playing sports – regardless of any financial aid offered – that school is in violation of rules on recruiting. If anybody is aware of specific cases where this may have occurred they have a responsibility to share this information with GMAC (Cheryl Golden at CGolden@dadeschools.net) and the FHSAA (Natalie Strappy at nstrappy@fhsaa.org). The only way to stop it is to report it.

| There you go Juan and Roman. Furthermore, every coach provides the referees and the opponent team with a team roster . Now you know where and with whom to report all violators.
