Ross Coburn – Ross retired this year after eighteen years with the Shamrocks-the last original member of the Shamrocks formed in 1996. Ross the perennial lead-off man for the Shamrocks was a gritty mainstay and a vacuum cleaner at the hot corner with great range and soft hands. Ross was a very versatile player and played many positions when needed. Ross was always a tough out at the plate and had a high on base percentage and everyone knew that if Ross was on first, there was a very good chance he would be stealing second. Ross was always one of the top base stealers in the League. Ross always gave 100% and was a great captain and team leader for the Shammies.

Darren Collins – Darren was the consummate leadoff hitter with a sparkling on base percentage of 0.430 and an impressive batting average of 0.343 compiled over a ten year career in the NSIBL. During that span he amassed 196 hits, scored 173 times and had 98 RBI’s before a knee injury sidelined his career. Darren spent most of his career with the powerful Maccan Royals but did play two years with cross county rivals, the Amherst Silver Bullets and led them to a provincial title. Darren will be remembered as being the smoothest center fielder to grace the ball fields of Cumberland County.

Terry Dunbrack – Terry has been an integral part of the NSIBL for the past seven years in an executive capacity. He has held positions as Vice President, member of the discipline committee, league scheduler and could be counted on to disperse sage advise. When called upon, Terry could be counted on to cut to the core of the problem. He gave forthright, honest and pragmatic solutions to all questions. Terry has helped the NSIBL run smoothly and grow.

Steve MacLeod – Steve was an original Pictou County Molson Canadian Albion. He played eleven seasons in the Albion’s colors winning Provincial and Atlantic titles. Steve was a clutch pitcher and a sure handed fielder that patrolled both corners of the infield. Steve always wanted to win and sometimes got upset when things weren’t going so well. Steve developed the nickname “G” while playing with the Albions. A tough competitor Steve would always do his job and helped the Albions win many games. Steve developed into one of the league’s best pitchers. His record speaks for this as he had a career record of 55 wins, 12 losses, and 7 saves while compiling 447.3 innings pitched. His ERA was 3.19, with 403 strike outs. Steve not only could pitch but he could handle the bat as well. He hit for a .272 avg, with 25 doubles, 15 home runs and 111 RBI’s.

Shane Oickle – Shane retired last year after sixteen years with the powerhouse Shamrocks and was a key part in the green machine winning thirteen League Championships, nine Provincial Championships and three Atlantic Titles mainly as a pitcher. Shane a battler, had excellent control and kept batters off balance with his knuckleball and racked up many wins for the Shamrocks. Shane was a very versatile player with a strong bat and could be counted on to play where needed in the field. Shane also did an excellent job as player/coach from 2006 to 2011 and guided the Shammies to six League Titles and two Provincial Championships. Shane continues to support baseball by assisting the Shamrock Society.
