| No all star games this year...not enough interest from some leagues.
State will be Aug 7-10 and 15-17.
Hall of Fame ceremony will be during the state tournament. I cant remember exactly when we decided but i thought it was before the Championship Game on Sunday the 17th.

| It could have been scheduled as Saturday after the first two games on the first weekend. That way the most people would be in attendance.

| Not enough interest from all the leagues is one way of putting it. Another way is some key people have been against the all star game idea from the start and wanted nothing to do with it. I think it was a fabulous idea and could have really taken off with the right promotion and support. Thanks to all those who worked hard to put on the event the last couple years. It was a lot of fun. And maybe some new voices will be heard next year and we can get the all star game back.

| Don't blame this on "key people". The fact of the matter is none of the teams other than the teams that take summer ball seriously gives two shits about the all star game. There is a lot that goes into an event like a 4 league all star weekend. It just doesn't make sense to have one if it is not supported by other players or teams that are not in the actual game.I have been at a few all star games and I can tell you that I hardly ever see a player that is not in the game come and pay to watch to support class a baseball. The only way to have a class a all star game if that's what people want is to make each team sell a certain amount of tickets to the game so it makes it worth it. And I doubt teams are willing to even do that. If I'm wrong then lets debate it. But I don't think I am.

| I think it should already be expected for teams to have responsibility, liability for how well the state tournament does with attendance.
I know Park Natty already has a number of fundraisors and so do other select teams to boost funding.
I do believe, even if sold to parents, that tickets, an ordinant amount be distributed at a price to the teams and they should be responsible for putting butts in the seats.
Otherwise, everything is going to change anyway, within the league, where the participants are charged fees for each game, just like during the regular season. Winning equals paying. Not great.

| Well let's figure it out and find out how to get more seats paid for. Teams shouldn't pay for playoffs and we should have an All Star Game. It's fun to see the best players we have.

| I think that the success of the All-Star game depends on how we define "success." My understanding is that the All-Star game existed to serve two main objectives: 1) raise additional revenue to offset the costs of the state tournament, and 2) provide a suitable vehicle for the annual Class A Hall of Fame inductions. There could be other reasons, but those are the ones that I've heard mentioned more than any others.
I was fortunate enough to participate in last year's game as a coach, and I can attest that every player in that dugout was legitimately excited to be there. The final score may not have been pretty, but it was a lot of fun for those who participated. If the game lost money, then it would be appropriate for coaches and commissioners of the 4 leagues to come together to discuss what went wrong and how to fix it. I think some of the previous posters have addressed some of what went wrong (low attendance, low visibility). That doesn't mean the All-Star game concept is bad. It just means that individual teams need to do a better job at getting their players and fans to show up. We should brainstorm how to accomplish this.
One idea that bears consideration is holding the All-Star game during the final weekend of the state tournament. This would encourage those teams who did not make the state tournament to show up that final weekend. Now, some college players might be gone, and others might not want to play after a 2 week layoff, but it's something I think worth considering. Maybe you schedule the All-Star game for that Saturday night, or if that would distract too much from the playoff games that day, then maybe you open the final playoff weekend with the All-Star game as a Thursday or Friday night teaser. Just throwing ideas out there...

| It will be held at the same crap hole as last year. Basically because they have a cute little grandstand. The playing surface is horrible.
