| Hardly seems fair when some conferences qualified a month ago and have not practiced, and only their top 2 move on..

| I only heard of invites being announced from the teams who competed yesterday and received a qualifying score and were informed of that today, so they have had the same practice time as all the other teams

| With all due respect CheerCharlie that is exactly the point. The invitations given out yesterday were for teams to advance to regionals this weekend and next. And although Emass and Risma competed just this weekend, all of the other leagues competed several weeks ago and the teams in those leagues that didn't place 1st or 2nd have not been practicing in all that time so it is unfair to hand out invites now since most of them would most likely decline since they haven't been practicing. And why would they practice? Every year we hear that there will not be invites and every year it turns out not to be true. So the reason the other person commented on it not being fair is because it seems that the invites will only benefit the leagues that competed this weekend and received an immediate invite. Again no disrespect just trying to explain the other point of view.

| I only heard of Emass giving out invites. I did not hear of any other league that gave any invites.
Do we know which teams in EMASS received an invite? I think Malden Jr.Midget med 3 who else?

| My team from Hockomock (JM Med 2) received an invite yesterday. We've been practicing even though our leagues were 2 weeks ago. Our teams always sign up to compete in the New England Cheer and Dance Comp in Boston (which is also this weekend). It's another great opportunity to compete and extend the season (so you're still practicing if and when you get an invite)!

| Ahh thank you for the clarification CheerEpie! I guess since the Emass invites came out the next day, I assumed other leagues had the same system which is my mistake.

| Wow, hope some of those football teams that may have lost in their playoff games get invited to try again.
Since there are so many teams that advance by default, since there are so many different levels and sizes, Why are we still doing invites/qualifying scores??
1st and 2nd only. Good luck to all the teams that earned their spot in Springfield. Only 2 go to Nationals, and your competition field just go a little larger.

| completely agree with that ^^ comment. The two best teams won first and second, and the other teams had their chance to be the best already. It's who brings it that day, and now it's like a slap in the face to the top two teams who earned their way and the invited teams just get it handed to them. Not trying to bash any team or league in particular, this is just a general opinion most people have on invites.

| I m almost ok with invites if the competition is scarce. But when a division already has 16 teams competing for 2 spots, invites are not only a slap in the face but completely unnecessary.

| Does anyone know how the invite process is actually determined?
From my experience, I think it is based purely on scores. For example, if Team #3 came in 3rd in their leagues, but their scores were higher than Team #2 that came in 2nd in a different league, then Team #3 gets the invite, because they would have beaten Team #2 if they were in the same league.
I honestly think that method is good and working. We should want to compete with the best teams out there, to make our kids better athletes and ourselves better coaches. You're not competing with the best of the best if teams with good scores didn't make it to regionals because their league is tough/has strong competition. Like I've said in the past, if you get an invite, you know you're most likely not moving on. It's all about the experience for the kids, giving them another opportunity to compete. They work all year for 2 1/2 minutes at leagues, it's great when they get the chance to do it again!
On another note, I'm sure New England Pop Warner wants to get their day filled with teams to maximize ticket sales/profits for the day and in order to do so, it needs more than the top 2 in each division from each league (since most leagues don't even send a top 2 in every division)!!

| To me, it gives the kids false hope and opens the door to heart break not just once, but twice and that second time probably feels even worse than the first time because they get their hopes up that much higher. I dont think it's fair to the kids, especially the younger Pee Wee and Jr Pee Wee teams who don't understand. If two teams beat them at the competition but had higher scores than the #2 team of another league, it doesnt matter because there is still three teams better than them and only top two go to Disney, no invites. Too much false hope and heartbreak involved in an invite

| Unless and until all scores are posted for everyone to see, that argument does not hold water. How do you know if a 3rd place team scored higher than a 1st or 2nd place team in another league?? Also, by that logic, why bother having local comps. Just have one huge regional, winner take all. The point of top 2 is to reduce the number of teams competing at regionals to only the best of each conference. Sorry if 3rd place in one conference is higher than 1st in another, they are not the best of their conference.
You can't please everyone all the time, I get that. But this to me is a pretty simple fix. NO INVITES, 1st or 2nd only.

| Invites stress the kids out more. They say only 1st and 2nd move on and they should keep it that way. There not fair to the teams who got 1st and 2nd. It's a big slap in the face to the winning teams. Personally I think if there's invited they shouldn't be competing. They should just go and show off there skills and perform for fun.

| Invites are a touchy subject. If the league wants to send the best to compete at regionals, to give New England the best chance at nationals perhaps they should reconsider the process. Why not have the top 3 teams move on? In Emass more than 3 move on from leagues, then you would have 3 from eastern mass and 2 move on from regionals.

| The invite debate rages on!personally I don't mind the invites.in high school top 2 and teams with qualifying scores also move on.We had a team a few years back invited to regionals after losing in the qualifier ( they had a fall) and they won so it's not always a heartbreak.Win or lose,I think it's great experience for the kids to compete on such a large scale. Im not sure it's fair to compare it to football since they have many more opportunities to qualify for playoffs.. it's not just one shot and truthfully my son's football team went on forever last year even though they lost games in the playoffs ..they were moved to another division where opponents forfeited in 2 games so they just kept going. Love it or hate it..I wish good cheer to all!
