Hello everyone, The New England Report and pop warner rankings are now back after a year off due to my career. We have much to discuss and now we have a lot of teams that have opted to the division 3 and with no nationals at that division it really hurts but we must move on from that and talk about what’s going on. AS most of you should know all scores schedules and standings for the entire New England region can be found here… I do not have an actual website this year as levae.com no longer serves the purpose it once did. I am in the process of making a new great new website and looking to add players and games of the week highlights on the page for next season. These rankings are only my opinion as many of you know I have been doing these for 11 years and I am pretty accurate with my opinions not only regionally but I am well known at the national level as well. I am still not coaching anymore as I am very busy with the prep school but I will be attending games starting this week... we have 3 weeks unitl playoffs begin.. Some major headlines we should be looking at…
1. Emass playoffs now have seeds 1-8 no longer leagues matter where you are in the playoffs 2. Unlimited division looks strong again and will try to maybe get us another national title? 3. Games of the week and player of the week submissions can begin by emailing me directly @ cragoza@brooksschool.org 4. As many of you know I have paid my own way in traveling to nationals and regionals and games each week for many years... I will be setting up a PayPal account next week’s report in order to help me with my new website and traveling funds... Anything helps and as always anything I say please don’t take to heart as it is really just for the kids and coaches and parents to have some gossip!! Without Further ado…. Rankings will be anything from top 5 to top 10 depending on divisions… Unlimited will be ranked starting next week as I follow up on some leads... D3 if you feel as you should be ranked in your own division 3 please email me. We can work on that Remember to give me your game of the week nominees and place I should attend. As starting this Sunday I will be traveling to the games that are the biggest ones of the week. Also Player of the week nominations can be sent to me directly... Division 1 Midgets (ONLY TOP 5 WITH MOST TEAMS AT UNLIMITED NOW) 1. Hartford Hurricanes (5-0) Next Game: @ South End Titans (0-5) Hartford is the real deal... up and down they have the playmakers… it will be great to see how regionals go for them. As of now they are undisputed number 1 in New England 2. West Lynn Rams (4-1) Next Game at New Britain at Home. West Lynn has been moved up to D1 and they not disappointed. Besides a week 1 loss to Hartford they have beat everyone else. I expect the game with them and Dorchester in the playoffs to be a great one that I will be at... 3 .Dorchester Eagles (3-2) Next game at East Lynn this weekend. Some people may get upset that I have Dorchester at 3 with two losses but they have lost to two tops (one d1 one d2) teams both in close margins... We will see if they can turn it around come playoff time 4 Edgewood Eagles (4-1) Next Game at Boston Bengals... Edgewood is Division 1 this year and will be Division 2 next year (Mt Hope and Edgewood will alternate yearly from d1 and d2). They have a tough matchup with a Boston Bengals D2 team that could surprise some people. 5. Somerville (2-3) Next game HOME again Hyde Park (#1 in d2). Somerville has had a tough schedule and it doesn’t get any easier... They will be a tough first round match up in a couple weeks though for anyone… Division 2 Midgets (top 3 only) 1. Hyde Park Cowboys (5-0) Next game @Somerville. Hyde Park can play with anyone d1 or d2 they are loaded this year… I wouldn’t be surprised to see them vs West Elmwood in the end 2. West Elmwood Intruders (4-1) Next Game at Revere... West Elmwood will be there in the end... I don’t see anyone beating them besides Hyde Park… 3. Boston Bengals (2-3) Tough draws for the Bengal’s but they should rep emass in the regionals with so many teams going to unlimited… Division 1 Jr Midget 1. Edgewood Eagles (5-0) Next game against Cambridge Warriors. Many can argue that this is a tossup between them and my number 2 team… Only time will tell… 2. Dorchester Eagles (5-0) Next game against East Lynn... Dorchester survived their toughest test this week by beating Malden 8-6... Huge rematch I see coming during the playoffs. 3. Stratford Redskins (6-0) against Manchester Senitals . Stratford is a name that we are used to seeing in the division 2 rankings but have also moved up. So far passed all tests. 4. Malden Cyclones (4-1) lost a heartbreaker to Dorchester but will see them again in the playoffs.. Can they overcome the loss ? We will see.. 5. Brookline JP Patriots (5-0) their soft schedule doesn’t help their case to get any higher than this as of right now.. Not their fault but we will have to see them in the playoffs. 6. New Haven Steelers (6-1) Lost to Stratford but as we know the playoffs down in Southern CT are always crazy… Keep an Eye on them 7. Boston Raiders (3-2) Tough forfeit to start the year but they are progressing.. Could be a dangerous underdog. 8. Bridgeport Raiders(5-2) keep an eye on them as well…. Division 2 Jr Midget RISMA has no playoffs just sends 1st place team to regionals 1. Brockton Jr Boxers (6-0) Next week at Burlington Saturday Night.. Not many hockomock teams are playing in division 2 this year but I have heard nothing but great things about the boxers. Thinking about traveling to this one Saturday night and checking them out 2. North County Panthers (6-0) this week @ Worcester . A staple in the division 2 ranks for years.. Back again with no true tests yet.. Will this be the year they get over the hump? Time will tell.. 3. New Bedford Bears (5-0) This week @Barrington . RISMA is tough to predict.. with the top team moving to regionals and with no playoffs the question remains does the lack of competition hurt the Bears? 4. Milford Eagles (5-1) BYE this week… Their only loss is to d1 Bridgeport the first week of the season by 1 point.. Stay tuned as they are in a tough conference 5. Amity Spartans (5-1) this week @ Naugatuck .. Tough loss to Milford last week.. They will see each other again in another highly anticipated battle. 6. New Milford (6-0) this week playing Water-Oak. Looks like to be the representative from RISMA 7. Trumbull (4-2) Tough losses but as I have stated many time before.. SCPW playoffs are insane anyone can win 8. Mt Hope Cowboys- They have had the toughest schedule imaginable.. Brockton was a real wakeup call in week 1 but I hear they are getting stronger week by week 9. West Boylston Lions-(4-1) soft schedule does not bode well for them when they are in line to meet up with North County very soon… 10. Amherst Patriots(NH)- quality of competition are hurting them.. Could see them being one and done in regionals… Division 1 Pee Wee 1. Hartford Hurricanes (7-0) Next week home against winless New Britain.. This is a train folks… best be sure to stay off the tracks.. I am excited to go see them week 1 of the playoffs. I think they are the team to beat in New England hands down. 2. Revere Jr Patriots (5-0) at a tough 3-2 Everett team… Revere looks to have their best team in years at any level… Tough test in two weeks at Edgewood .. They don’t play the team I have ranked 3rd until playoffs 3. East Lynn Bulldogs (4-0-1) Tied number 4 on Sunday 0-0… Defenses came to play.. Time will tell how good they really are… The game with West Lynn in two weeks will determine more.. I will be there for that. 4. Edgewood Eagles (4-0-2) See above 5. Worcester Vikings (5-0) No real competition yet.. They faced a tough division 2 opponent in Fitchburg and won by a two scores last week.. Playoffs are where we will find out more about them 6. New Haven Steelers (6-1) only loss to Hartford… Playoffs are looming… 7. West Lynn Rams (4-1) weak schedule so far… Lost by 3 scores to Edgewood.. we will see when they play East in two weeks 8. Danbury Trojans (4-2) They have beat everyone besides the top 2… They will need to step it up in the playoffs if they want to compete with Hartford and New Haven Division 2 Pee Wee 1. Mount Hope Cowboys (3-0-1) Should be the team to beat.. tied Edgewood early in the season.. Division 2 is better with them in this and they should be the favorite to rep New England at nationals… 2. Fairfield Giants (6-1) Only loss is against Hartford… Always a tough out when it comes to regionals.. great coaching staff 3. New Milford Mustangs (5-0) Weak schedule but sometimes that doesn’t matter.. We will see when regionals approach 4. Portsmouth Patriots (5-0) Will most likely be RISMAS rep… Fun to see how this team does in Regionals with no local playoffs 5. East Bay Warriors (4-0) Plays the patriots last week of the season to decide RISMA 6. Boston Bengals (4-1) Don’t sleep on this team.. I bet I get a lot of emails in regards to their low rankings.. Lost bad to Mt Hope but I think if they get it together and fix the problems they could be dangerous 7. Fitchburg (4-1) Lost to Worcester but can play.. I worry about lack of post season experience but they are a dark horse to take the region 8. Brockton Jr Boxers(4-1) Weak schedule hurts them.. I don’t know if they have the depth to compete in regionals 9. Amity Spartans (6-1) Strong team… if they beat Fairfield in the playoffs watch out!! 10. Trumbull Rangers (5-2) Another dark horse in SCPW .. more to come on this team next week
Division 1 Junior Pee Wee 1. West Haven Seahawks (7-0) 207 points scored in 7 games… highly talented.. Wil be fun to watch in regionals Loaded with returners 2. Dorchester Eagles (5-0) Great squad.. class of EMASS . Will watch them very soon 3. East Lynn Bulldogs (5-0) No real tests yet.. playoffs will be on fire in this division 4. Boston Raiders (5-0) Raiders are looking like their old selves again in this weight class 5. Hartford Hurricanes (5-1) Got a wakeup call in a loss to West Haven 6. New Haven Steelers (6-1) see above… 7. Everett Crimson tide (4-1) Tons of close games.. Will be a tough out in the playoffs.. BE aware of them 8. Triton Vikings (4-1) lost to East Lynn .. will they turn it around in time for Emass playoffs in 3 weeks? 9. Worcester Vikings (3-2) Good team just might not have enough to beat the Raiders.. 10. TBD
Division 2 Junior Pee Wee 1. Hyde Park Cowboys (6-0) Huge game in the works when they play number 2 next weekend 2. Mt Hope Cowboys (4-0) two weeks away from a big showdown Both beat Brockton and Brockton might have the best running back at this level in New England in #1 3. Milford Eagles (7-0) tough tests lie ahead for the Eagles 4. Naugatuck Warriors(7-0) not any real competition yet.. soft schedule could hurt them 5. Dighton Rehoboth Falcons- (5-0) front runner for the RISMA crown.. IT will be great to see a RISMA team try to make some noise in regionals!! 6. Old Rochester (5-0) Another team from RISMA that will be great to see when they meet DR in two weeks for the RISMA crown 7. Pomeraug Warriors (5-1) likely the winner of northern CT 8. Fitchburg (5-0) more to come on this team after this week 9. Mission Hill Bucs-(4-1) got smoked by Hyde Park week 1 but time can change a lot.. we will see 10. Amherst Patriots (5-0) Darkhorse….. That’s it folks enjoy! Feel free to email me with any questions, comments, or concerns...
