| If there are requirements for the amount of league games players need to have in before the end of season tournament starts, why are teams allowed to play any of the tournament games with players who have not met the requirement?
If these said rules of the league are not going to be enforced, and coaches are going to blatantly lie, what is the point of them?
Either get rid of the minimum league games played rule or enforce rosters and scores to be turned in each week or find an alternative.
Disappointing end to the season...

| Whoa. That's a pretty harsh accusation, dude. Hope that's not actually true and I would also hope the people running this league wouldn't allow this stuff to happen if they knew about it.

| That issue is going to be address in the off season and it is already being looked at on how we can monitor it from a league stand point. It is unfortunate that there are frustrations and concerns how a team went about winning a league championship be it true or not. It is up to the coaches to bring up concerns and the league will address them unfortunately the league personal do not play at each level to have a general idea on who is legal or not. The league is not about one or two individuals but the group as a whole to make it better and fair.

| That a team was allowed to play AT ALL with illegal pick ups is incredibly frustrating to me. Whether that team wins the whole thing or not at all is kind of neither here nor there for me. Rules are rules. If you can't field a team of eligible players for the tournament, you don't get to play. That's unfortunate, sure, but that's the rule.
What's worse for me is that when concerns were brought to this team manager about his roster, he responded in such a way that demonstrated that he did not care if he or anyone else followed the game requirement rule. That just... sucks.

| We had one opposing player flat out say that he only played in 2 games before...I figured that at least he played with them previously. I hear another team comment that the team they played during the regular season and the team they played in the tournament were entirely different teams...that's obviously lame.
I'm personally not a fan of having a minimum game limit since I know other things come up (and injuries happen) and it would have sucked to have had to tell a player that they couldn't participate because they only managed to play in 4 games. We had a huge roster for the express reason of making sure that we didn't have to forfeit any games due to a lack of players. If we HAVE to have a game limit (and I agree that it would be hard to enforce anyway) then I'm actually fine with that number being 1. I'm probably in the minority but I just want to play and have a good time.
I'd much rather have it just be that whoever is on the roster at the start of the season is eligible. If people want to load it up with folks that are only going to play in the 'Fish, then that's their decision. I wouldn't want to do that myself but if people feel the need to basically cheat at co-ed rec league softball then they have larger issues.
Just my $0.02..had a really fun season, can't wait for next April to get here...:)

| I think the problem with throwing out the game requirement rule altogether is that you will have that one team who brings in a bunch of ridiculous subs that have never played in this league just for the sake of winning the tournament.
Perhaps the solution is not to do away with the rule entirely, but to limit teams to the number of subs they can have in the tourney?

| Totally agree on the "whole bunch of new players strictly for the tournament", I'm just not a fan of having a game minimum per se as I explained above.
I like the sub limit idea and also think that having the start of the year roster be who is eligible and that's that would help fix this.
I had a girl get hurt at the very beginning of the season (she strained her ACL and MCL) and she was trying to make it back for the tournament. I had to tell her that she wouldn't even be able to play. Of course, she didn't even play in a single game this year since she got hurt in our first practice but the concept is still there. She was on the roster from Day 1.

| Let's get the facts straight here we are talking about one 5ft 2 girl playing in pool play that I sat for the first two games Which we lost all three games in pool Play. we 10 runned every team in the Leauge during the season except Dawg pound and finished second place due to reported scored Not updated and Dawg pound playing one more game then we did. Every year it's the same thing complaining after the tournament ends. we fought hard as the last seed Sunday with every player eligible so suck it up buttercup

All Of this complaining over one girl Who is 5ft 2 and 105 pounds is a joke. Go out and practice more suck it up and learn to not be a poor sport it's embarrassing

| I'm not sure what her height and weight have to with anything. Unless there is a clause somewhere that says the game requirement doesn't apply to players under 5'5".
And you're not the only player in this league who plays ball in other places. Most of the teams in this league could stack their rosters for the tourney. But they don't. Because they follow the rules.
I can see why you might automatically think that all this complaining is all just sour grapes. Most cheaters like to think the problem isn't them, but that it clearly must be everyone else. Seriously, it's not about that. This is a principle of the matter kind of thing. If you don't want to play by the rules, go play ball somewhere else.

| Mike-
The issue with what happened this weekend is not that your 5'2" gal was somehow the difference maker. What is the issue, is that despite your clearly understanding the rules, you decided that they don't apply to you.
There was a time when come tournament weekend you would see teams with an all-star lineup that nobody recognized. Guys would magically show up on rosters and hit bomb after bomb...We decided as a league though, that we wanted our tournament to be played against the same teams we competed against all season.
There are plenty of leagues and tournaments that I have no doubt you could recruit your way to massive victories. This league however, is not that league. This is a league where you play against the same people every week, and every year. You know people by name and look forward to friendly honest competition.
For better or for worse, this league will never have the resources to police these infractions. We COUNT on everyone to simply do the right thing.
Almost every year I have to make decisions about who plays on my team based on their availability in August. So does every other manager.
Your attempt to justify playing someone who you knew was ineligible, is straight-up crappy.
Congrats on your big tourney win... hope you have enough room on the trophy shelf.

| Well we didn't cheat so you two just look like that sore losers in my opinion . We went 0-3 in pool play and came Back and smashed Sunday. You can speak until the cows come home but your dead wrong.

| For clarity, the player in question...did she play the minimum amount of games during the season or not?
As I've already mentioned, I don't personally care one way or the other...but the back and forth about who did and didn't cheat can be cleared up real quick...did the lady play the minimum amount or not.
It's not subjective. It's black and white as it currently stands.
To me, as long as she was on the roster at the beginning of they year that's fine, but that's not the rule currently.

| I'm kinda wondering the same thing as Ian. I feel like a big deal is being made about people being poor sports, but I'm not hearing the cry of " she played with us all season!" that I would expect from someone who argues that they were on the up-and-up on the league rules. Just an observation.
I don't have a dog in this fight, other than that I play on a team in this league. But I'm gleaning that there are concerns about more than one team roster? Sure hope the powers that be can find some time to look into the issues.

| My team went through 19 girls this season we limped into the tournament with 5 girls (all with atleast 6+ games played) I had another 4 girls who only played 4 that I unfortunately told they didn't make games played requirements. ..my team went into day 2 with only 4 total girls ...we could have pulled another one in to even it out but I played by the rules of the league...and unfortunately got beat in the championship because of 1 less fielder and huge gaps in the outfield ....my team has been in the league 4 years now and anyone who knows me and my team we play with integrity and pride win or lose we play by the rules. We all must remember our actions in this league are seen by everyone else ...we play we watch we talk about other teams ...it's like a family keep it real, keep it fun, keep it honest
