| The 2 time defending Owensboro Hurricanes are going to play 14u baseball in the spring and summer of 2017, there are approximately 10 weekends to play from memorial day to the end of July. The idea is to play 7 to 8 of those weekends based on tourney/player/coaches availability. The roster for the owensboro hurricanes is empty. We are having an open tryout on Sunday, November 6, from 1:30 to 4:30 at panther creek park in owensboro. The number of players that will be on the team will be based solely at the discretion of the coaches, Jarred Bowman, Donnie Munsey and Jerry Gibson. The goal for the team is to improve every year and a 60/90 field requires more position type players and increased pitchers. At this time, no past Hurricanes players have a spot on the team. Every player that wants to make the team needs to tryout and be at this tryout. If a player cannot be there, we understand that and just please let Jarred Bowman know as soon as possible. It is the goal of the coaches to have each child and parent be able to play for free or a minimal charge. Last year we played 6 tourneys and the parents paid $131 and please correct me if those figures are not accurate. We hope to raise money and play in 7 to 8 tourneys from late May to late July. At most parents might be asked to pay $200 and that will be needed prior to the end of February so the team can lock down tourney dates, . If costs increase the coaches will self fund the team or look for increased donations. Each player will have 2 jerseys and a hat and players will just buy white pants and whatever helmet. If your son decides not to play/tryout and is a past hurricane, thank you for your time and effort and dedication to your son and to the hurricanes. It has been incredible to watch them grow and play and improve. We hope each player on the past hurricanes' teams will tryout. We do not have a set number of players we are keeping. It will cost $20 to tryout, if your son makes the team, the $20 will go toward any future money required to be paid. If parents/players want to play past july 2017 as a 15u team, then that will be determined on the financial capability of the team and the availability of players and coaches at that time based on high school sport athletics.
