| Now that the dust is beginning to settle as we enter the Holiday break, we can get a little idea of what may happen in this post season and what teams are up, what teams are down, and what teams have pretty much remained the same. It seems as though St. Thomas Aquinas and American Heritage Plantation are a bit down this year. Last year at this time both those teams were ranked in the top 15 nationally and now they are ranked #27 & 38 respectively. Which is still excellent but still down, maybe rebuilding a bit this season. Archbishop McCarthy has not only established themselves as the top Catholic school again in South Florida, but as the top school period in south Florida. According to Topdrawersoccer.com, Boca Raton has had the injury bug and has been without 6 starters the last 3 weeks, we will see if they can get healthy in time for the playoffs. The most difficult path to a state title seems to be in class 4A, 4 of the top 8 state ranked teams are in that division, 5A has just 2 and 3A just 1. In Miami, this could be the year that Miami Springs takes down American Heritage Plantation. Lourdes should have little resistance until the state final 4 since they probably will not see a state ranked opponent until then. Carrollton and Westminster Christian are going in the right direction, showing that their small schools can hang with the bigger schools in Miami. Coral Reef could make a run but will have to get by Lourdes. Still a few games and the GMAC to be played and anything can happen and maybe another team steps up at just the right time, we will see. The best of luck to all the teams, especially our Miami teams!
