I just wanted to post a thank you to Scotty for all the time and effort he has put into JSSA over the years. He has received little thanks.

While I was on the board with Scotty (and afterwards) we didn't always agree but he never did anything selfish and always put what he thought were the best interests of the ENTIRE association ahead of himself.

Scotty knew we were one group. Even though, years ago, the “A” league wanted to make themselves separate. He stood firm and our league became better and stronger for that. Over succeeding years other people tried to play super senior versus senior and put a division between our association. Scotty has tried to never allow that to happen and always kept the best interests of ALL members first.

Over the years Scotty was instrumental in truly codifying our association and league. Writing, re-writing and clarifying rules. This was not an easy task but the association has its unified rules and each division has its own set written rules that layers can rely on. No individual can change those rules without the approval of the entire board. This was something Scotty fought very hard for and it has allowed our association to have phenomenal growth.

Probably most impressive is the financial situation our league is in under Scotty's leadership and tenure. Our organization is the most financially solid in the area in Senior Softball. We have done things like buy league bats, better screens , insurance for the league, player protective gear etc etc. No other association has done that.

Because of decisions made while Scotty was on the executive board, (and the town of Jupiter's generosity) our league fees are the lowest in the area ($40 for the entire year) for all 230+ players …. we have 16 sponsors who pay $250/ years to support our league (most other leagues sponsors pay $500 and up).

The cost of running our league has averaged under $8000 per year for the last 4 or five years. This has been accomplished through controls and rules instituted. The excess has allowed the JSSA to give back to the players unlike any other Association.

Every time you wear your JSSA jacket, use a “demo” bat or even play by rules on the fields, recognize that Scotty has been involved in the growth and has never been thanked.

Thanks Scooter for everything you have done, the JSSA would not be where it is without your dedication and sacrifice for the Association. I would hope more people recognize that.
