| So you're looking into buying a basketball jersey of some type? Well I hope this article will help you to better understand some of the purposes of buying one because no one just goes out and buys a basketball jersey without any type of purpose, and if they do.. Well something must not be right. This doesn't just go for basketball jerseys though it applies to almost anything when you are going out to make a purchase.When I was younger, one of the biggest reasons that I wanted a basketball jersey was to fit in. It seemed like everyone else had one and I was the only one that didn't. It wasn't so much about supporting the team or player, but to fit in. I wasn't excited about the fact that I had a Ben Wallace jersey as I was about the fact that I felt like I belonged.So maybe that's not your purpose, maybe you've grown out of that stage and just want to support the player/individual or the team. When you buy a college basketball jersey, more times than not it's to support the team because very few are sold with the players' names on the back. College basketball players play for the name on the front of their jerseys and professional basketball players seem to play for the name on the back despite what they say. At the end of the day, the professional player gets a paycheck and the college athlete doesn't. On the flip side, when someone goes out at buys an NBA jersey, they are supporting the player and not so much the team. I may be wrong about that in some cases, but a lot of times that is the truth.Okay, you're not buying it for yourself, but as a gift. When parents go out and buy a basketball jersey, chances are that they are buying it for a youngster who loves the sport or a certain player. And sometimes a friend can purchase a basketball jersey for another friend.For the ultimate basketball fan, you may just be buying a basketball jersey to collect them without any intention of ever wearing them. Every person that collects some type of apparel knows that the more you wear it, the more it decreases in value and what is the point of collecting something with no value?
