| Any truth to the rumor that there will be no GMAC tournament this year for soccer??
Anyone care to shed some light on this??

If it's financially motivated, that would be pretty sad when you consider that the cost to put on 7 matches is pretty minimal.
Referee fees are what? About $100-$150 per match.
And field rental can't be that pricey either.
Just play the game at KSP, Amelia Earhart, Milander, or Traz during the day if necessary and cut out on the costs for lights.
The folks at GMAC really ought to be able to put this thing together.

| Confirmed. No GMAC. Scheduling conflict, girls playsoff for 5A District 15 starts of GMAC Week, therefore they decided to cancel both, boys and girls.

Serious question:
Why do they even have to have a district tournament?
Isn’t it a foregone conclusion that Lourdes will win the district yet again? Let the regular season decide who came in second and that’s that.
Winning second place in that district gets the honor of losing to the 5A16 district champion, or if they somehow pull the upset their reward is another 8-0 loss to Lourdes.
The geniuses at GMAC never fail to let us down.

| The 2A-15 districts would have started the day after the GMAC Championship as well. Multiple scheduling conflicts would have made it difficult for a few teams who would have qualified, but it is still sad to see there will not be a GMAC Tournament this year.
They did not do a great job of getting the scheduling in line this year. Perhaps next year, all of the distrcits can make sure their playoffs start a few days after the set date for the GMAC Tournament.

I already pointed out the absurdity of cancelling it because of 5A15. Now you're suggesting that because of Krop (5A14) or MAST (2A15) the GMAC tournament was cancelled. That's just a ridiculous decision.
So basically the folks at GMAC are penalizing 6-7 other qualifying schools because 1-2 districts effed it up for the rest of them with their scheduling.
Here's an idea, invite those schools anyways and if they decline then move on to the next school on the list. I'll tell you this I would venture to say that the third or fourth place team from 5A16 (Palmetto/South Dade) are still better than either Krop or MAST. And before you point out that it would be unfair to have so many teams from the same district participate......then just go ahead and cancel the tournament for good. GMAC on the girls side has been dominated by 5A16 for at least for the last decade. I know. I checked. I went as far back as 2009 to look at the GMAC winners and you have Palmetto with 3 wins and then Reef, Ferguson and South Dade with 2 apiece. And in most years, the 2 finalist came from among those 4 teams anyways.
The most absurd part of this, is why wait until right before GMACs to announce your're not having GMACs?
You had teams looking forward to participating in the tournament and then you just pull the rug from under them like that. That's just poor planning and weakness in leadership. They really ought to be ashamed of themselves for it.
Anyways, enough of my rant. Its obvious the powers that be don't give a damn about anyone's opinion and really didn't put any thought into their decision.
It's sad, because this may very well be one of those exceptional years where a number of teams seem to be on equal footing and it could have been anyone's title.

| Have it on good authority that the GMAC tourney is back on, excluding those teams from districts that have their playoffs next week. So it looks like Krop and maybe MAST are the odd men out through no fault of their own.
Good job GMAC. Way to do the right thing.

| The field is watered down this year. I expect the finals to be a matchup from 2 years ago with Reef facing off against Springs. I'll give Reef the edge with Springs missing their top scorer and already having beat them earlier in the season.
As a side note, I think Palmetto and South Dade are both stronger teams than Reagan and/or Mourning.

| Don't Be Suprise With The Young Fellas of Homestead Senir High ??????????. Is Funny how theirs always Favoritisms in other teams except Homestead, its always been like that. Its also funny how the Admin of this page does not recognize the hard work this Kids from Homestead are putting every game and practice. I don't understand how they not in the top ten ???????????????? you Admin of this page are disrespecting them by putting them in " Under Consideration" Today they prove that they in the top 4 best team in Miami Dade Public Schools ?????????? Another Thing this is just the beginning for the Homestead soccer team. Just dont be Suprise!!!!!

| To "Soccer" and "Nope" : Sorry if you feel disrespected, not our intent, please don't forget you were ranked as a top ten a month ago, until you lost. GMAC is great and awesome but it does not mean that the all the best teams are there, some of the best teams are there. Broncos had a tremendous regular season and their reward was GMAC, yes the gap between your team and Columbus is not big, yes you are a very good team, but there are many very good teams that are not on the top ten. There is parity in your district and the county. District playoffs are next week, and as you know, it is anybody game, there are no favorite to win your district, it can be Varela, Coral Reef, Homestead or Ferguson. Nobody will remember the top ten, but we will remember who wins the district. Good luck during the playoffs and please don't think there is bias towards Homestead, we are happy about your success
