Attendees
Dave Summers, Gary Newman, Tom Cosentino, Sal Messina, Gary Ofner, Gary Brodsky, Jeff Barron (Phone), Mike Richmond. An additional 5 JSSA members attended the meeting.
Meeting Notes:
Gary Brodsky opened the meeting and turned it over to the new Board officially resigning as JSSA Commissioner.
OFFICER ELECTIONS: Dave Summers and Tom Cosentino took there seats as newly elected Executive Board members. Dave Summers through unanimous Board vote was elected JSSA League Commissioner and Tom Cosentino was elected as Secretary. Both positions will continue through 3/31/2020.
PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES: The minutes for the previous meeting were officially approved by the Board.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Gary Newman presented the Treasurer’s report. Current balance in the league account is $6399. Gary anticipates that the balance will dwindle to approx $4000 in the next couple of months based on expenses. The 2019 End of season party on March 7, 2019 at Abacoa was a huge success with approximately 100 attendees. The league contribution to the cost of this party was approximately $408. The treasurer's report was motioned and approved.
NON-PROFIT PROJECT STATUS: Sal has agreed to prepare an email to Roger Wyner with unanswered questions by some members before the Board moves any further. He will copy all directors so that we can hopefully get these clarified by Roger and again discuss at the next meeting.
B1/B2 DIVISION SPLIT STATUS: It was agreed that a survey will be developed and presented to all B1 and B2 players for feedback on the first year of the division split implementation. This will be done before the end of the season. It was also agreed that the there is no reason not to implement the split next Winter and that two players from each division will be recruited to form a committee to help the B committee best implement any needed changes to improve the format from this year.
UPDATED LEAGUE REGISTRATION FORM: The Board approved the amended registration form presented by Gary Newman. Major changes are $70 player fees if paid by 10/1/2019 and $100 if paid after that date. Mike Richmond was the only Board member to oppose.
BOARD RESTRUCTURE: The following changes were unanimously approved by the Board:
Gary Newman has resigned from the Executive Board and has accepted a position as A Division Committee Board member
Scott Logan has accepted an appointment by the Board to join the Executive Board as Vice-Commissioner
Rich Sewell has accepted the position of B Division Committee Board member.
VOLUNTEER COMMITTEES:.An email will be sent to all JSSA members who recently volunteered for B committee service to request their help on the following committees: Elections. Social (Parties), Sponsor Management, B1/B2 Division Format
INVITED GUEST LIST FOR LEAGUE ACTIVITIES AND PARTIES: It was unanimously agreed by the Board that the volunteer non-player umpires, JCP Groundskeeper Dave and selected Jupiter town recreation department personnel should be invited to all future JSSA parties and events at no charge.
NEW PLAYER WELCOME RESPONSIBILITY- All new players will be referred to Gary Newman and Mike Richmond for evaluation and best division placement to fit their skills.
MEETING ADJOURNED- NEXT MEETING APRIL 8.
