| JSSA Board Meeting Minutes
Monday 7/15/2019
ATTENDEES:
Dave Summers, Tom Cosentino, Scott Logan, Sal Messina (Phone), Gary Ofner, Jeff Barron, Gary Newman, Mike Richmond, Rich Sewell
CALL TO ORDER/QUORUM
APPROVAL OF MINUTES - Minutes from 6/10/19 meeting were approved
TREASURER’S REPORT - Approx 120 players are now currently registered for the 2019-2020 Season. Currently 8 sponsors paid. Scott Logan will email the list of unpaid sponsors for followup and payment. Approx 53 players have taken advantage of the free shirts and hats so far. Players have until August 1 to order by emailing Rich Sewell and must be register and pay their dues by that date. Financial detail questions should be directed to Gary Newman. Treasurer’s report was approved unanimously.
Old Business:
NON-PROFIT STATUS DISCUSSION
After discussion and comments by Mike Pagano (CPA) and Roger Wyner (Attorney) a motion and subsequent vote unanimously approved the reorganization of the JSSA to a non profit corporation. Mike P will take the lead on this with any legal expertise help from Roger W. We will also follow up on possibility of increasin liability insurance for league Directors.
MIXED DIVISION PLAYING RULES
The playing rules for mixed play between division were submitted and approved by the Board with help from John Sullivan and Scott Logan. These will be emailed to all players and umpires and become effective immediately.
EQUIPMENT REVIEW
Tom C will order 2 new First Aid Kits and Gary N will order 4 new Scoreboards.
Dave Summers will head a group who will inventory screens and other items in equipment boxes on Wednesday
BATTERS BOX
Though there will be no visible lines drawn, the batter’s box rules still apply. Based on the umpires judgment call, a batter may be called out for stepping outside of the box.
New Business:
CODE OF CONDUCT REVIEW AND CHANGES ADOPTED
The JSSA Code Of Conduct has been revised and amended in an effort to clarify behavior that is deemed unacceptable to the league. The new code was adopted with a unanimous Board vote. It will be emailed to all members along with a message from our Commissioner.
AED MAINTENANCE RESPONSIBILITY
Richie Sewell will follow up with Larry Stripling to make sure the AEDs receive the required twice yearly inspections and maintenance.
UNIFORM PLAYING RULES UPDATE
It was agreed that these along with our ByLaws need updated and will be addressed as an agenda item for our August meeting
