| Over the weekend, I had the pleasure of indulging in some truly scrumptious food and drinks. It was a truly delightful experience, and I couldn't have asked for a better way to unwind after a long week. Meanwhile, my team absolutely crushed it on and off the diamond. It was awe-inspiring to watch them in action, and I couldn't be more proud to play in that tournament.

| The beginning of the year’s eighth month is an ambivalent time On one hand, there’s still a month to go until the end of summer fun, with a long weekend and a plethora of vacation possibilities to look forward to. On the other, there’s only a month to go until we start to think about the playoffs, with the increasingly apparent waning of sunlight a daily reminder of fall’s inevitable approach.
As with all that is unavoidable, the only real question is how you react to the passing of time by optimally enjoying the present moments while wisely planning for the future. Interestingly, how to best do so is hinted at in this month’s name: “August” (with the emphasis on the second rather than first syllable) is also an adjective, meaning respected and impressive.
These are qualities to which we should all justifiably aspire.
Being truly August requires achievement and dedication. There is no easy path to earning the respect of others or even of yourself by displaying skills with the bat and the glove.
It involves consistently working towards achieving goals that push you out of your comfort zone, with your best possible self as the ultimate aim.

| Teammate tip: when your teammates makes an awful but innocent mistake (forgets how many are out, forgets the which park the game is scheduled, drops a routine fly ball,, etc.), don't get mad at them. It makes no sense (it was accidental) and it accomplishes nothing except supplementing an already bad situation with an unnecessary tension.
Instead, think about it like this: as a team, you will commit like 30-50 of these hideous mistakes a year and who knew that one of them was gonna happen today, but it did, so that sucks, but it's also a little bit funny, and let's just make the best of it.
This turns those moments from relationship-damaging to relationship-building. And of course, what goes around comes around—you do dumb things too, and you'd much rather your teammates be a laughing teammate than an angry parent in those situations.
I didn't used to do this, I learned it from my wife. I am a frequent committer of hideous mistakes, and it surprised me that she never got mad about it, and then I started being like that too.
