The Buss goes deep but Cubs prevail.
Culver City somehow overcame a game changing Dave Buss big fly (1) in the 2nd inning to beat the Yanks 10-9.
With the Cubs trailing 8-5 in the 8th inning, Dave Merrill led off with his 2nd jack of the year. The Cubs then loaded the bases and with 1 out Steve Birkett (4-4,HR,2b,5rbi,) hit a Granny (his league leading 6th HR), to give the Cubs a 2 run cushion heading to the last inning. Nick Gontmaher (3-5,HR,2b,2r,rbi) led off the last inning with a "no doubta", to cut the deficit to 1. But reliever Jon "The Sheriff" Moss, wiggled around a 1 out walk, and held the middle of the Yanks lineup down for his 2nd victory.
