Orioles Snag Season Opener vs. Dodgers, 7–5
LOS ANGELES, March 5—The Valley Orioles (1–0) rallied from a two-run deficit in the sixth inning, holding on to win their 2011 American 25+ season opener 7–5 against the Glendale Dodgers (0–1) at Pote Field in Griffith Park.
Leads changed hands three times in the eight-inning Opening Day matchup.
The Orioles got on the board early with two runs in the top of the first, which the Dodgers answered with one run in the bottom of the inning.
The Orioles added a third run in the second, holding on to a 3–1 lead that evaporated when the Dodgers scored four runs in the fourth inning.
After two scoreless innings, the Orioles later converted multiple Dodger errors into a four-run sixth inning.
Solid relief pitching from Frank Andrade sealed the victory for the Orioles.
On deck: The Orioles host the Christmas Bail Bonds Cardinals (0–1) at Grant Field on March 12. The Dodgers visit the Tiburones (0–1) at Pote Field on March 12.
