The Bucs sprayed 5 hits in this pitchers' duel, managing to scrape a run in both the first and sixth frames to take the win. Mike Bodlovich was dominant through 7 with 11 Ks. Darrol Harris was clutch for the offense, collecting the only RBI in the contest in the first inning. Later in the sixth inning he scored an insurance run after hitting a 2-out double, then stealing third and taking home on a throwing error.
Peter Maes in relief picked up where Arnie Costell left off, keeping the Pirates' bats quiet and K'ing 6 in 5 innings of work and getting out of a bases-loaded jam in the 5th.
