Cubbies take 1 to the dome... literally!
On a perfect day, with 2 on and 1 out in the 4th inning, Buck Grayson hit a high fly ball to left that was lost in the sun by Cubs leftfielder "Doc" Merrill. Lowering his head and covering his face, the ball ricocheted off the TOP of his head - and travelled an estimated 3o extra feet OVER the fence for a cranium aided 3 run HR. Luckily, Doc was ok and never lost consciousness, but the Cubs never woke up.
Great game pitched by Mike Thompson W(6 inn,3ER,1 bb) and Mario Chavarian Sv(3inn,1ER,1bb) sealed the deal.
