A's Return to Winning Ways, 18-4 Over Stallions
The A's took advantage of ten walks and several Stallions errors along with key hits to beat the Stallions, 18-4. Mike Fortunato cleared the bases in the seven-run sixth inning, with a booming double. Dave Dawson drove in two runs on three hits, including a long triple. Jack Charles and Steve Fleishman each had two hits and three RBIs on the day.
On defense, the A's committed five errors, which accounted for most of the Stallions runs, while the A's pitchers gave up only six hits.
We wish a speedy recovery to Stallions' hurler, Joey Martino, who hurt his leg while covering first base, and to A's outfielder, Angel Torres, who broke a few ribs in yesterday's 25+ National Championship game (to go with the broken nose he suffered with us at the end of July).
