Arakawa shakes off a tough 1st to lead 'winders to win.
Sidewinders starter Kaz Arakawa gave up long bombs to Chomyk and Dymkoski in the 1st, but settled down to pitch a strong 6 innings allowing no more runs and striking out 9. Dave Becker threw 1 shutout inning and Bobby Torres closed it out with 2 shutout innings to keep the tough Pirate team at bay.
With the bats, Bob Affrunti had a big 2-run single in the 4th, Casey Matthews hit a 2-run bomb in the 5th, and Torres and Steve Rombro contributed 3 hits apiece.
Secondbaseman Beau Burgess made a spectable diving, falling down play from the dirt on defense to help the cause as well. A good win for the Sidewinders against a very good Pirate team.
