Bill Brown Goes The Distance
45's pitcher, Bill Brown pitched a complete game, scattering fifteen hits while walking no one. Not too many of those hits were hard hit and his defense picked him up a few times, including a double play fly ball to center with Herb Weaver gunning out the runner at first. Brown came up big when he needed to, striking out several Creoles with bases loaded.
Offensively, Mark Freeman was on base all day, scoring twice, stealing three bases and walking for the first time all year. Greg LeMaster also doubled and walked three times. The 45s ran into a few outs, but were bailed out by a couple dropped cans of corn that lead to most of the scoring.
The Creoles and 45s have a great rivalry going, most of the games are close, evenly matched and hard fought. Today was no exception, with Colts finally prevailing. Both teams are tied for second place with the Creoles having a slightly tougher schedule, so today's win was big for the 45s.
