Sidewinders come back to win.
In the 3rd, Gary Walsh and Ben Farber led off with singles, and after a FC and K, runners were on 2nd & 3rd. Then a couple of clutch 2-out hits by David Murray, who smacked a shot double to plate 2 runs, and Chris Wynne, with a single to drive Murray in gave the Reds a 3-0 lead. The Reds added another in the 4th as Jorge Martinez singled in a run, but left the bases loaded, so after 3 1/2 the Reds led 4-0. In the bottom of the 4th, the Sidewinders get on the board as Dave Becker doubled, Roberto Torres doubles him in, and then Casey Matthew drives in Torres with a SF. With Sidewinder relief pitcher Torres holding down the potent Reds attack (5 2/3 IP, 0 runs, 7 K's), the Sidewinders scored another run in the 6th to make it 4-3 as Ethan Wolferman doubled, went to 3rd on a balk and scored on a single by Jamil Mamdani. In the bottom of the 8th, the Sidewinders first two batters make outs, but then Becker singled, Mamdani singled, and Torres walked. Steve Rombro then hits a high hopper that was not able to be fielded, which plated 2 runs and give the Sidewinders a 5-4 lead. The Reds were not ready to give up though, as Farber led off the 9th with a walk, the next batter then hit a grounder that was booted. So the Reds had two on with no outs. The next Red batter popped out, but then Farber went to 3rd on a botched pick-off. 1st & 3rd with only 1 out, and heavy hitting Murray at the plate. Murray hit rocket line drive, but right at the firstbaseman, who made the play and stepped on the bag for the game ending DP. A close game, by two evenly matched teams.
