Pirates rally in great battle to top Sharks
Fantastic game at Santa Monica High today as the Pirates rallied in the 8th to top the Sharks in a nail biter. Tom Kopp tossed 8 strong innings for the Pirates yielding zero earned runs. Both teams put runs on the board in the 2nd with The Sharks also cutting a runner down at the plate in the 5th and then taking the lead in the 6th 2-1. After two quick outs in the 8th, John Petrocelli and Roger Stewart each hit singles and then scored on Robert Reeves clutch two out base hit to put the Pirates up 3-2. The Pirates gunned down a Shark runner at the plate in the bottom of the 8th, then the Sharks put 2 runners on with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th against closer Robert Reeves who got the final ground out on a stellar play by Pirate SS Jeff Hoff. Great game all around.
