Angels Lead, Lightning, Lead, Angels Lead, Lightning Tie...
Angels lead, Lightning tie, Angels lead, then Lightning, in 1 last effort, come up a bit short in the 9th. In a see-saw battle, with more base running errors (by both teams) than we've seen a month of Sundays, the Angels outlast a strong and FAST Lightning squad in a game going over 3 1/2 hours.
Just the 8th and 9th innings take almost 90 minutes, with a total of 20 runs being scored.
Good pitching, to start the game, from Angels' Rick Gari & Lightning's Bobby Berry, who comes in again in the 9th (after 2 other Lightning pitchers) to finish up. 15 walks to Angels' batters finally take it's toll on the Lightning. Brant Dveirin gets 3 big hits, 2 SBs and 3 RBIs to lead the Angels. Rick Gari also adds 3 hits. Jess Whitehill gets the win in relief. Lightning's Ron Wells gets on base all 5 plate appearances with 3 hits and 2 BBs. The Angels are not looking forward to the rematch!
