Stallions in shock... as they walk off !
With the powerful Brewers up 6-1 after 5 1/2 innings, it was lookin and soundin like a typical butt whoopin by the division leaders. I say "soundin" because of the always warm humor flowing from Brewers players throughout the game. Brewers starter Greg Bertrand was really hummin striking out 7 in 6, but the Stallions managed to squeek out 3 runs against him. Stallions ace Martin Campbell got stingy with the runs in the second half giving the Stallions a chance. However it didn't start well in the bottom of the 9th for the Stallions down 7-5, as the first 2 batters were disposed of quickly. As the #9 batter Eddie Mejia (who threw out 3 stealers going for 2nd) came to the plate, Martin and Ryan with their stuff packed announced they have another game to go to and might as well split now. But before they got out of the dugout, down to his last strike Eddie drove a hit into right. One "tough play" error and a walk later and the bags were loaded for the young all-star Eric Smalling. Eric came up big with a smash to the fence in right/center for the walk-off winner! Stallions lead-off man Sean Lang also came up big scoring twice with a walk, hit, double and a tripple. Ryan Flores also crossed twice (3 hits) and pool player Mike Greene crossed twice (hit and a double). Stallions cheerleader Christina (Jess' wife) said "it feels so surreal winning this game".
