Scarborough Red Storm Varsity lost a hotly contested 3-2 game in eight innings on Monday at Scarborough after surrending the lead in the eighth inning.
Samantha Adams got the win for Sanford. She allowed two runs over eight innings. She struck out 12, walked two and surrendered six hits.
Sanford jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. A double by Kellie Tovey, scoring Adams started the inning off.
Scarborough Red Storm Varsity pushed across one run in both the third inning and the sixth. In the third, Scarborough Red Storm Varsity scored on an RBI single by Grace Farnkoff, plating Marisa O'Toole.
The game's last lead went to Sanford thanks to a eighth inning rally that saw one run cross the plate on a solo home run by Adams.
