Mudcats Bang Out 15 Hits In Sloppy Win
For the second night in a row, Quinn Construction jumped out to a 6-0 lead and then almost lost the game. The Mudcats struck early. In the first inning, AJ Olasz laced a two-out single up the middle, Brooks Marzka doubled and Chris Miller brought them both home with a single. Mudcat veteran, Tom Simcho had to make an emergency start for the tardy Dan Laird. Simcho escaped the first inning without harm holding a 2-0 lead. The Mudcats did more damage in the second. Ryan Kandsberger and Zack Miller singled to start the second and moved up on Kevin Quinn's sac bunt. Ricky Olasz brought them home with a single, stole second and scored on Dan Campbell's double. Campbell came home on an AJ Olasz sac fly making it 6-0. Simcho's second inning of work didn't go as well as the first. He walked the first batter, gave up a single and hit a batter to load the bases. Simcho got Zach Podrasky to bounce a one hopper right back to the mound but it caromed off his glove and into no mans land to make the score 6-1. After he allowed a single to Aaron Krull, Simcho pulled himself and called on Danny Laird to clean up his mess. Laird struck out Luke Padezan for the first out of the inning but walked Matt Loftis to make the score 6-3. John Rende then hit a line shot right at SS Zack Miller who doubled off Krull at second base to end the threat. Klingensmith Insurance tied the game in the 5th due to three errors and a Matt Bradburn triple. The Mudcats didn't wait long to respond. In the top of the 6th, AJ Olasz hit a triple and then Marzka brought him home with a single making it 7-6. The Mudcats added an insurance run in the 7th when Ricky Olasz squeezed home Zack Miller for an 8-6 lead. Laird tossed 6 innings and struck out 6 earning his first win of the season.
