Mudcats Stun Clancy's With Come From Behind Win

Quinn Construction starter, Brandon Sandusky, couldn't find the strike zone in the first inning and Clancy's took advantage by scoring 4 runs. Rick Olasz relieved Sandusky in the first inning and immediately got Clay Groff to bounce into an inning-ending double play. Olasz struggled with his control in the second and gave up a bases loaded bloop single to Jayson Monroe making it 6-0, Clancy's. Clancy's added another run in the 3rd when Groff walked, moved to second on Pat Aul's sac bunt, and scored on AJ Kavinsky's single. The Mudcats scratched a run out in the bottom of the 3rd when Ricky Olasz singled home Tony Kostelnik, making it 7-1. The Mudcats struck again with three more in the 4th. Danny Laird and Ryan Kandsberger lead off the inning with back to back singles. They both scored on Kevin Quinn's double. Quinn scored when Kostelnik doubled into the gap, making it 7-4. The Cats used a little two-out lightning to put up three more runs in the 5th to tie the ballgame. Laird singled, Kandsberger singled, Brooks Marzka singled and Kevin Quinn drove home the tying run with another double, knotting it up at 7-7. Old man, Dave Szanca, then laced a single to centerfield with Quinn being waved around third for the potential go-ahead run. That run didn't score though as Zach Galasso gunned down Quinn at the plate with a perfect throw to keep the game tied. Nick Yobbi came on in relief of Olasz and kept the Clancy's offense off the board. Clancy's starter, John Nusser got his second wind and blanked the Mudcats in the 6th and 7th inning forcing the game into extra innings. In the top of the 8th, Yobbi ran into some trouble. Joe Aul and Galasso lead off with singles putting runners at 1st and 3rd with no outs. Quinn Construction decided to intentionally walk Mike Hustava to load the bases and draw the infield in. Yobbi gave his best Houdini impersonation as he wiggled out of the bases loaded jam. Monroe popped up to second and Yobbi struck out Eric Fichter and Chris Priore to end the threat. In the bottom of the 8th, Joe Aul came on in relief of Nusser. Aul walked four consecutive batters to end the game and complete the comeback victory for Quinn Construction.
